I was dreaming before I woke up
I'm terrible at keeping a dream journal, so I don't actually remember it

I have a habit of dreaming that I'm doing whatever I was doing right before bed, like my brother had friends over before I went to bed, and I had a dream I was having a beer with them, but that's all I remember.

can I do the FILD technique in conjunction with other techniques, so concentrate on breathing, as well as finger tapping?

Hmm I would try not to think of whatever it was you were doing before you went to bed as this might cause the dream to actually seem real and therefore not enduce a lucid dream. If you are going to sleep focus on your dream and your dream alone. Keep repeating a phrase over and over in your head as cue for your dream like.
"This Is A Dream" over and over until you fall asleep then in your dream you may say "This Is A Dream" and become lucid.

As for a dream journal you don't necessarily need to keep one just when waking from a dream try and go over things that happened in your dream I.E. dream recall it's not as big of a hassle as keeping a dream journal and will help tremendously with your lucid dream as well as vividness in dreams to come.

Sounds good, I'll give that a shot

I have a huge problem with an internal monologue, and i heard someone say that dialogue in your head isn't good, because it causes quite a bit more brain activity, and you wake up more

it's a really profound question, but how do speak in my head, just think the words, or imagine I"m actually saying them in real life.
It's a weird question, so if you don't know how to answer, that probably means you are a touch closer to normal than most

      anyway thanks

Well.... you can count numbers in your head right? Like yes I suppose it would be to think the words YES thats it think the words don't imagine yourself saying them. As you get closer to falling asleep you will have probably stopped thinking the words anyways so it shouldn't interfere to much.

      It's on now
I'm going to take a nap later and give it a shot
I think I've been the closest to go lucid during a nap
      so maybe it'll work
      we shall see

anyway thank you for the help!!!
