Well if concentrating isn't for you don't try the WILD, do something easier like the MILD. WILDs don't work well for newbies anyway. |

I want to atempt a WILD, but i was reading some tutorials and it says u need to concentrate. in my language that means: cross the Sahara Desert on a punctured unicycle. i am very motivated to do this stuff, butwhenever i try to sleep and focus on something like last five minutes of a Devils, Rangers game and im the starting goalie for the Devils; in about 2 minutes ill be thinking of sleeping on a hammoc back in Puerto Rico. Let alone trying to focus on something stranger and harder. and believe me, i do have all the motivation in the world, but my brain almost intentionally tries to screw up my thoughts like when im trying a method to fall asleep, my brain will put images of things i dont like, i try to stop thinking about it but its no use...is there anything i can do to concentrate better or will i just have to practice? |

In WILD it is normal for the imagery to shift. The only thing you can't do is allow yourself to become too involved, or you may fall asleep. If you see yourself shifting into sleep that's when it's a problem. As long as your mind is awake, no matter what the imagery is, your body will go into SP as long as you are still. |

Save the llamas. Adopt an alpaca.
I might be going against the tide on this one, but I swear: letting one's mind drift a little can be good for WILD. The key is staying aware whilst ones body falls asleep, correct? So, if you can manage getting your body to stop sensing things, etc... it really doesn't matter WHAT you're thinking about, right? |

I'm Dreaming
I find that a clock that ticks is helpful. I just say, "Tick-tock" in my head every time it ticks. I can't see how the breathing approach is helpful unless you unintentionally fall asleep and then Dild or something. |

I agree with Amalgamadora, I think it's ok if your mind wanders as long as every so often you bring it back to lucid dreaming. |
