      LD difficulty

Right, first off, i've been into these "Lucid Dreams" for awhile, but recently i've been having them a little bit more often. Also, my dream recall isn't bad, i've been working on it for quite awhile and now I can usually recall dreams fairly well. Now, my problem is, i'll start out a dream and know it's a dream or I might realize it's a dream at some point, either way, I run into the same problem. I can watch my surrounding, even pick things up sometimes, but anytime I try to move around alot, or do anything requiring alot of effort I can feel myself slipping out of the dream. I won't wake up but the dream will slip into chaos.

Last night in my dream I was in a van I think and I remember just looking out of the window at the surroundings. I was looking at the cloads and I saw that it looked as if they had been colored in with crayon or something. I then thought... "Wait a minute... hey I thinik this might be a dream!" and of course, it was.

I immediatly wanted to start doing cool stuff but I thought to myself "No, if I do, i'll lose it" so I instead observed my surroundings and thought i'de do a little experiment. I licked my finger! I touched my finger to my tongue and I could feel the wetness! I know that to many of you that might seem pretty mundane but it's the first time i've ever been lucid long enough to try anything like that. I then thought "Ok, now I'll interact with someone." but when I tried to get up and touch people I felt myself slipping out of the dream. Of course I did and it slipped back into complete unorganization. But still, not a bad LD eh?

Also, what's with all these techniques i'm hearing about? WILD, HILD, all that jazz, can someone explain to me what these are?

You can read up on the techniques on the "tutorials" section of the site, and I'm sorry but I don't think I can really help with your problem. But congrats on the LD anyway

BTW, would you mind explaining exactly what you mean when you talk about this "complete unorganization", you've got me curious.

What I mean by complete unorganization is something that might be exclusive t omy dreams. But usually, in my dreams, things will happen randomly with with little or no explanation. Let's say i'm dreaming "not LD" and i'm holding an AR15, sometimes the barrel might bend as if it just melted without me even firing the weapon. As I said, things like that just happen and usually it upsets me when I am dreaming.

I think one thing that is happening is that you're setting yourself up for failure. You've been having this problem with losing lucidity for a while and it's possible that you're expecting yourself to lose lucidity. If that's the case, just remember that the more you practice, the better you'll get. Just give it time.

If you have to start out with small stuff, then by all means do so, but there are two things that you need: 1. Remind yourself that you're dreaming constantly so you won't slip out, and 2. Just have confidence. If you're uncertain that you'll be able to do something an an LD, chances are it's not going to happen. If you want to fly, then jump off of a cliff and soar! It's your dream.

As for the acronyms, you can find pretty much all of them under the Tutorials section, but here's a handly little guide for you: http://www.dreamviews.com/community/...ead.php?t=2954

Thank you all for your replies, i'm glad i've started posting here. It seems like there are alot of friendly and helpful people here.

Also, I figured i'de take it slow but I hadn't really thought of constantly reminding myself that it's a dream. I guess I thought that once I realized it was a dream, I wouldn't have to worry about it anymore, but not so!

Also, there are a few things you can try that have been proven to lengthen lucid dreams; spinning around in circles or rubbing your hands together have been proven to be very successfull at making lucid dreams last longer, There was a study that found that they both have over a 90% chance of giving you longer lucid dreams.
