      What to start with?

After improving your dream recall, and getting down some basic sleeping patterns, what should I begin with. I"ve figured out that one of my dreamsigns is my school (i've been in it my past 3 dreams), so what should I try?

      WILD must be too hard.
      MILD I don't understand.
FILD doesnt' seem like it'd work.
DILD is the only way I've done it before, but thats nothing you can prepare yourself for.

Please tell me what I should, and some tips on it.

      Thanks!

DILD works best for me, but I've only tried WBTB twice and lucid dreamed once, so WBTB has a 50% hitrate with me. I've tried to WILD once and got close, I don't think it's very hard, it just takes discipline.

If you know someone that knows how to hypnotize people, try the HILD.

im trying to gain more skill with dream recall, i need more than two dreams in my dream diary before i can determine dream signs. but i would try the WILD. only because that seems like the one that you have the most control over. the others are just kinda go to bed and hope. but im still a newb

Welcome to DV. May I suggest the FILD technique, it got me my first lucid but i haven't tried it since. Maybe every time you think of your school do a reality check or imagine it.

Well heres the thing, for WILD, you have to sleep for 5-6 hours and then wake up, then try to do WILD since your in REM. But, I can't have my alarm going off at 4 in the morning, my dad would flip. Besides, by the time I start doing the WILD, I don't even know the technique enough, and it would be too noisy with my dad going to work. Plus my mind wanders alot.

      What i'm basically asking,
whats the easiest, (but still works) way to LD?
DILD is just chance, and I haven't neccesarily mastered my reality checks, etc etc. I mean... two nights ago, I had a dream (in my school) where I was trying to do a backflip to show off for a girl. Right then and there, I should've realized I was dreaming. When I flipped, I went in slow motion and floated in the air, I was practially weightless. So, I don't know. Plus WBTB is used as an aid mostly in other things. I dont know anyone to assist in HILD, so whatever. I'll see.

      Was reading this thread.... Could someone please tell me what FILD and WBTB mean? I had someone link me to an acronym list before but those term weren't on there. Sorry for interrupting the thread. ^^;

Hey, that's cool, my main dreamsign is school too! (or people i'd only see at school) I like to usually think of a WILD as keeping still enough that you give your whole body pins and needles and you stay awake through it. I am still trying to do WILD, and i hope i can, because the few times i have become lucid, i haven't my memories from real life, so i'm thinking if i do a WILD, i'll have my memories, as i am consciously entering the dream...

For whomever asked, FILD-Finger Induced Lucid Dream, and WBTB- Wake Back to Bed.

I still haven't gotten an answer. WILD seems way to advanced for this stage in the game.

Man I remember that I used to WILD so much as a kid... totally involuntarily... it was great... I still remember what it looked like when I was entering a dream... it was like flying through a cosmos in space and then a fade-in to my dream, and reversed for when I was waking up.... Totally awesome. Sorry, but your post suddenly reminded me of that.

MILD has worked best for me, thus far.

If I'm not mistaken (and I could be) MILD is essentially a technique for inducing DILD's. It's not really as complicated as it sounds.

      1. Sleep for a while (5-6 hours, if you aren't sure how long is best for you)
      2. As soon as you wake up, write the dream you were having.
      3. Stay up for a half hour to an hour (WBTB)
      4. Go back to bed, and while you are falling asleep, think about the dream you just had. Imagine what would have happened if you had become lucid in that dream. When could you have become lucid? What would you have done after becoming lucid? etc
      5. Repeat step 4 over and over until you go to sleep.

That gave me a DILD the first time I tried it, and it works about one out of every four tries.

Does that clear up some of your questions about MILD?
