Welcome to the forum, and I hope you'll overcome your bad dreams.

I'm new also here. But regarding your "colored" dreams, you mean not all people dream in color?

I have actually had several people tell me they dream in black and white.
      I don't.
My "Dark" Dreams are all very similar and frequent.
I am usually in trouble with the law for some infraction from stealing a car to actual murder (which I have never done either of) I am usually with a woman of questionable moral character who I usually meet in a bar which is something I also don't do or at least haven't for many years.
The entire dream usually revolves around evading the police or some other government type authorities.
I haven't watched television since 1984 so I'm not being influenced by television cop shows.
I don't know where these dreams come from.
They are always set in Urban settings and seedy bars and are completely opposite of the world I live in and have lived in for over 25 years.
I live in a beautiful remote area in the mountains of Northwest Montana and train horses for a living.
I am so opposite from the person I become in my dreams that the difference is day and night.
I have these types of dreams frequently and have no explanation for them.
Like the paratrooper dream I mentioned earlier these have been happening many years before Band of Brothers came out and not having watched TV in 23 years I don't know where these dreams come from.
      Just strange.
After being on this site last night I had a lucid dream, I was totally aware I was dreaming and kept thinking "I need to wake up and write this down" but I wanted to see where this dream would go as I was aware I was dreaming.
Then My phone rang and my neighbors truck had broken down and he needed me to tow his truck home so I jumped up and left to help my neighbor.
I never had time to write the dream down and it has faded somewhat.
It may come back as the day wears on as they occasionally do but I wish I had wrote it down before running out to help the neighbor this morning.
Sorry for the long winded response.
      Dave

to DreamViews, Dave! It sounds like you have an extremely interesting dream life already, and a really good start at lucidity. I always think it is interesting when people have discovered so many techniques on their own.

Don't worry at all about asking too many questions. I think you'll find a lot of answers here, and I look forward to hearing more about your dream experiences. If you don't get the responses you are looking for in a thread, send a private message to a Dream Guide or a Moderator.

(I know what you mean about seeming to become a different person in dreams. I do so many things that I would never do in real life, in my dreams.)

Welcome to dreamviews! And just don't give up if you don't succeed at first. But it sounds like you have good dream recall, so just keep a journal and try different techniques!

I forgot this before but welcome to DV and my goodness you have pretty good dream recall even without the DJ [and don't feel alone, I temporarily forget dreams and remember them during the day... if at school usually during my easiest class, Bio].

I used to have very dark and gory dreams myself, not something that perturbed me as much to be considered a nightmare so much as 'dark' so I've can empathize, they went away for me after buying three dream interpretation books and starting to practice LDing [all three interpretation books reside underneath my bed...].

And I don't watch TV much either... gee, we have quite a bit in common... our dream personalities are different from ourselves [mine to a lesser extent... my dream self is more of my suppressed mental self that thinks opposite of almost anything I say due to a rather lively, and possibly detrimental childhood, childhood being from 2-12 since I remember back only that far with a few flashes of before then]

And for your unexplained dream influences, when you keep a DJ and relate it to real life, your dream start making a little bit ,more sense at first and slowly builds there way up [or at least I've observed]
