      First Time on Site

      Hey Everyone,

I was doing research on dreaming and came across Lucid Dreaming on some website. The site made it sound like this is not very common, however for me it happens all the time. I ended up finding the Dreamviews website and thought I'd sign up and share some of my experiences:

      1. Becoming Neo from the Matrix - As soon as I realize I'm dreaming, I start using my Neo powers. I fly, float, even go through walls, and have a lot of fun doing it! I used to have a problem with how high I could fly and how quickly I can float off the ground, but now I do everything with ease.

      2. Telling people in my dream they aren't real - Again, as soon as I realize I'm just in a dream, I try telling those who are in it that they are not "real". I tell them that as soon as I wake up, they will cease to exist. If they are friends or family members, I tell them to remember what we're dreaming about just in case they are "real" and we are in each other's dreams. I have this belief that we as humans have the potential to share each other's dreams, just as we may be able to read each other's thoughts.

      3. Doing normal, boring body movements and exploration - Instead of going on some adventure like when I decided to be Neo, I stand still and act 100% awake. Meaning, I'll start by moving one arm, then another, then looking above and around me, etc. After, I start to explore wherever I currently am at. If I'm in my apartment, I'll open the door and see what's outside. I know I am in a dream, so I am doing this to compare my dream reality to my awake reality. Not as fun as when I play Neo, but very interesting how close both worlds are (dream reality vs awake reality) when you are Lucid Dreaming.

Thus, I have frequent Lucid Dreams. I think I am lucky because I know many people who can't remember their dreams, let alone control them. I think this is why I like to sleep so much...the majority of the time, sleeping is fun

Thanks for reading my post and I look forward to reading yours!

Perhaps we are really awake when we dream, and our "waking life" is our dream....

I sooooo hate you right now! No.. I guess I don't hate you.. I'm just very VERY jealous!!

Welcome to Dream Views and please feel free to post about your experiences, any technique(s) that you use to get lucid (tho it sounds like you're a "natural") and any dreams that you'd care to share with the class!

I'm so glad that you joined and I look forward to "reading" you!

I have always had lucid dreams, however I was only able to control them around the time I started college. After watching the Matrix trilogy, I was really able to gain control.

I think it was due to the similarities between the Matrix computer-generated world and our dreams. Once Neo learns that he can basically do anything as long as he forgets about the rules of the real world (like gravity, etc.), that's when he becomes "superman". Thus, when I realize I am dreaming, I too know I can do anything because even though my dream feels like the real world, I know I am in a dream world where rules don't apply.

Wow so many new members. I wonder if it's always been like this on the DV board. I've only been here for a day and I've seen many new members introduce themselves. I've never seen that on any board before. Guess a lot of people are interested in LD'ing.
