I can't add much to LucidMike's excellent advise, except also to start practicing reality checks. Good ones are looking at your hands and counting your fingers (in dreams, hands are often strange); trying to push your finger thru the opposite palm (in dreams, this is often possible); and trying to breathe while holding your nose (if you are dreaming, you can still breathe.) If you practice these during the day, hopefully you will remember to do one while you are dreaming and become lucid.
One more thing, the advantage of a dream journal is also to recognize dream signs, which are things that occur frequently in your dreams. Use these to trigger reality checks, and sooner or later, you'll find your self to be dreaming.
