      Here to stay!

      Hi all,

I love this forum and have had loads of help and advice already (CT - the Old Hag stuff was spot on). As I'm here to stay here is my intro:
My name is Sara and I live in North Wales in the UK. I'm mother of a young son and earn a living at home making stained glass jewellery.

I've had several years of strange sleep disorders which I think were kicked off by Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. I'm hoping to use lucid dreaming to combat the PTSD - does anyone know if this is possible? Can you dream of the event and control it in your favour, even if it has actually already happened in reality?

Sure you can create any dream setting, theoretically. Some people find it hard to change or even summon things in their dreams, and others have major trouble with just inducing a Lucid dream, but i'm sure if you have enough time and energy to spend on it you'll be able to LD.

Yeah, like CT said, it's possible. It's just difficult because you first have to become lucid AND be able to be in complete control. But yes, it is possible.

      Welcome to Dreamviews stargirl!

I hope you stay as you said

      Welcome Stargirl

Yep - its definitely possible, but it takes some willpower and confidence
Even in your lucid dreams, your subconscious mind might try to harass
      you.
But remember - you can also control your dreams. Nothing is truly impossible in that dream environment.
Whatever your dream throws at you, you can choose what to do about it.

It's nice to have someone around to use lucid dreaming as therapy. It's a great choice.
Many of us use it for either enlightenment or fun

      Propably.
Lucid dreaming isn't only for fun, I think many use lucid dreams to get better health in general as well.
Lucid dreams can increase happiness, and better health can be gained by it, I think.
      Are you dreaming?

If you want to sort all that out...(from a student of Psychology)...sort it all out with a psychologist...it will produce results if you desire it.

By the way, my girlfriend is from Wales

Lowercase is right...that would definately be the best way to go, better than trying to deal with it in your LDs, since psychology is more scientifical when it comes to matters like that. LDing is more of an uncharted territory, and its hard to say if it will work as you wish it to, although the possibilty does exist. To get more certain results, I recommend you take LC's advice

      By the way, WELCOME!!!!!
