      I'm completely new!

Hey everyone. Today is the first day ever that I have heared of lucid dreaming and I think it sounds incredible. In the past (I'm only 15) I've thought of being able to completely control your dreams but figured that it was just impossible. I read through the whole website over the past hour and I'm quite intriguid at the whole thing.

I already started doing reality checks (lol) and I've been noticing things that are abnormal while I question myself if they are really real. Tonight I'm going to attempt my first lucid dream and I was wondering if anyone had any other suggestions for first timers.

Hey welcome to DVs. Keep us updated and if you have any questions feel free to post them here. We also have a forum for dream journals if you would like to start one to help keep track of your dreams:

My advice is to start a dream journal if you haven't already. DJs are really good for recall and identifying dreamsigns.

Also, be sure of your intent before going to bed, but don't obsess. Obsession seems to hinder one's abillity to LD.

      Good luck!

Hi and welcome to Dream Views.

All the aforementioned advice is good. Also, you should take the chance to read through the tutorial section and mabye find a lucid dream induction technique that feels right to you.

Also, perusing the dream journals has helped me get lucid a few times. Perhaps read a few random DJ entries before you head to bed. Could help.

      Good luck getting lucid.

Don't get discouraged if you don't get one right away. It took me a little under 2 weeks.

You sound just like me. I found the link and instantly got hooked. I always wanted to learn how, but never knew where to begin. You can find tons of useful information here. Just try different techniques so you can find which one works best for you.

Yay I love how active people are on these forums and how I got replies on my post! Last night I tried to induce my first lucid dream but didn't have any luck. I'm not discouraged because I know how long it can take some people. I already know one of my dream signs because it has been happening for a long time. When I punch someone it feels like I can punch my hardest or like I'm punching underwater (It SUCKS so bad...). During my first 5-6 hours of sleep I don't remember anything I dreamt about at all...even right after I woke up. I fell back asleep and had more luck this time. When I woke up I immediately grabbed my dream journal and wrote down everything about my dream.

I think I understand about not obsessing over having a LD because I think that's what I did last night. I was constantly thinking thing like..."I'm gonna remember my dream" and "I'm gonna have a lucid dream". I couldn't fall asleep for like 3 hours so I'm not gonna do that anymore.

Welcome, yeah i was the same way. I stumbled across DV and really got me into it. Like others have been saying, keep a journal to improve your recall. Also, dont get frustrated if you dont have an LD just as you start out. It took me about a month to have my first. Man after a year on and off, i've only had about 10 LD's, so it takes time. As for this site, I feel it is very friendly and you can learn a lot if you want to.
Why does it seem so hard to wake up now and see who we really are?
