      WILD for newbies?

      Hi again guys,

Was thinking about trying WILD tonight (have only tried DILD for a week though - no success).

I know I'm rushing but really want to get into the experience.

Is WILD recommended for newbies like me or too advanced? Any other methods I should consider first?

      Any advice?

Unfortunately, LDing isn't one of these things that you can rush over. I got my first DILD after 3 weeks.

They say WILD is generally one of the most effective ways of getting LDs, virtually guaranteeing the power to lucid dream at will when mastered; but how easy it is to do varies from person to person. You might consider MILD, for which there's a tutorial in the Tutorials section, but I don't have much experience of it. I just got stuck into WILD and, even though it didn't work the first time, had promising results.

If you want a more gentle experience, try MILD. If you want to get into the real business, then WILD is the one for that. But as I said before, it varies from person to person, so just experiment and see what's best for you.

Alarm set too late I think and did not get imagery.

      Any advice?

^check that topic out, if you're interested. It's a pretty good tutorial on a style of WILD.

sorry for taking the attention away from evs but i've been having problems too. I was really close to having a wild one day but i panicked and ever since then i cant get into that deep relaxation phase. Also i was wondering what the best way to enter the dream is when you start having hypnagogic images.

The thing about the WILD is, you can go straight into a lucid. However it is very hard to achieve, and the lack of success causes most newbs to give up on lucid dreaming.

My advice is try something easier until you have a few lucids, then try the WILD. In the mean time just try a MILD.

Just remember that everyone's experience during a WILD is slightly different. I haven't had a successful one yet, but I think I've gotten a decent part of the way there. I start feeling heavy, anyway. My point is that I have NEVER experienced HI. Of course, that doesn't mean it's impossible for me, but it means some are going to experience it more than others. The same probably goes for other things like sensations.

Yeh, I reckon I'll stick with simpler techniques like MILD and DILD till I've got a bit more experience.

some things i have found helpful in attaining WILD's are

      * listening to music with headphones while falling asleep

      * rubbing my thumb and forefinger or toes together very softly and slowly

doing these together has helped me hold onto lucidity as I enter the hypnagogic state. as you enter the hypnagogic state you will notice the music begin to fade in and out from your consciousness and you will start to not feel your fingers or toes as you move them together. when this start happening i usually start seeing images and hearing voices within minutes.

WILDs are cool. mastering WILD means having a lucid dream whenever you want! but its not for beginers. Especially if you havent ever even had a lucid dream before. Its like trying to run before you can walk. i suggest trying some of the other techniques like MILD, FILD, VILD etc. but im not your mom so if you do try it anyway, just remember, the first WILD is the hardest!

[edit] oh and awesomeevs your avatar is awesome lol

Ok, this has happened to me a few times. I wear a face mask and listen the ZVF audio (which lets you become relaxed and then later repeats that I'm going to have lucid dreams etc) straight when I get into bed. After a few more minutes after it has finished, I lay still and wait. Soon I start seeing white light and it feels as if there's electricity running through my body. I can also hear an actual buzzing like electricity would sometimes have. The light would get much brighter and the sound much louder everytime I'd get 'shocked' or 'zapped'. This then ALWAYS leads to a false awakening and I become lucid. I don't remember any transition after the white light and I don't get vibrations like in a WILD.

Is this just sleep paralysis and was it close to a WILD?

Actually, my first ever WILD attempt was one of the most promising. I had moving sensations that I've never been truly able to achieve again. I was a lot more enthusiastic about it then, and since several failed attempts, I've sort of lost faith in WILD. But I'm getting better at it again, though.

it may have been the most promising, but imagine how much easier a second WILD attempt would have been if you had actually had a successfull WILD on your first attempt!

Hey, I''m relatively new to LDing and very new to this forum. I've been keeping a DJ for a couple weeks, and I usually remember 2 or 3 dreams a night. Lately, I have been trying WILD, but I keep running into the same problem. Focusing on imagery or counting or observing my breathing always keeps me awake. As soon as I stop trying, I fall asleep, but the thought of consciously falling asleep just keeps me awake. Any sugestions?
