      Introducing Myself/Question

Hi, ive been using this site for a few weeks to get started with lucid dreaming, but i only just registered on the forums. I first heard about lucid dreaming from the movie Waking Life, and thats really how i got interested in it.

Anyway, my question is how can u not wake up when u have a lucid dream? last night i had my first lucid dream, where i was walking down a road and suddenly i just stopped and realized "hey im dreaming." everything became much more vivid, and i was able to make it stop raining (it had been raining in my dream before). but only a few seconds later i woke up, for no reason in particular. idk maybe i just got too excited :p

Hey there, welcome to Dream Views! Waking life is wonderful film, brilliant soundtrack.

As for your problem, as you get lucid more and more, the dreams will last progressively longer, don't worry about that. But some people like to do things like rub their hands together and spin on the spot to increase stability in the dream. Also, staying calm and not getting too excited helps stop the dream ending early.

Buddy, that is the point of lucid dreams, you know your awake, and as for them stopping, all you need to do is practice at it, after 9-18 lucid dreams, you should be able to master it (From what i've heard)

Why stay awake when you can LD

Welcome to the site, it could have been that you were too excited, that is the most common answer to waking up without realising it. There are a number of stabilisers that you can use to maintain the lucid dream, you can make up your own though. As long as you get yourself involved in the dream using as many senses as possible (touch is a good one) you should be able to stay in the dream for longer.
