Definately, when you WILD you experience sounds and feelings that are created by your mind before you actually start dreaming. You should also see "hypnagogic imagery". To start off this imagery is usually relatively simple images, flashes of light and geometric patterns. Gradually the imagery becomes more and more detailed and you will start to see people, faces and full scenes.
It sounds like you may have lost concentration and fallen asleep. The things you heard and felt are completely normal, it means that you're not fully awake and are definately on your way to having a WILD. So don't give up, frag-per-second. Keep at it and it'll pay off. After reading what you posted I can see that you definately are making progress.
Good Luck
