      First ld, it's great

Well actually i had my first ld 15 days ago but i couldnt post it because im on vacations.
I'm writting this because i have noticed many of you get desperate if you dont have a ld by the first 2 weeks or so. Well maybe you will feel better if i tell you it took 2 months for me and let me tell you it's totally worth it.
I have had other 3 ld since then so i guess its not that bad well at least for me i started remembering 2 dreams a month lol.
Another purpose of this post is that each new ld i get is shorter than the last one first one was like 10 minutes and last one like 30 sec so im getting a little scared to loose the little ability i have because normally ld get longer with practice. yeah i know spin, rub your hands well i do that but it doesnt work well maybe i need more practice, but i can tell you this maybe im not good enough having and keeping ld but i can control all and i mean it maybe many of you can but i wanted to tell it.
      This is my first ld:
I was like on the roof of a japanese construction and someone tell me i dont know why "dont worry its a dream" and i finally understood and i yelled of course its a dream and i started to fly not like superman style more like matrix and as i was flyng i was saying "thank you" because you know the excitement i had been trying for two months. I was flying as fast as i wanted (very fast) the sky unlike all the first ld flying dreams i had ever read was at night with a full moon and gray clouds but it was beautiful i like it 1000 times more than if it would have been day.
And then i started to fall and i said what no im not going to fall and i decided to go to the space so i went, as i was flying out the earth there were giant jellyfish dont ask me why and then i was on space and i was going to enter earth again and i turned to it and it was beautiful but then i turned and there were millions of parallel earths and then i said which one is the right one and said i dont care, then i spinned and went somewhere else.
I hope you liked it im sure i did "euphoria lasted a few days the memory forever"

Thanks for sharing your experiences with getting started. Going from a two-dream-per-month recall to LD in two months is pretty good - some will get there sooner, others later.

As far as the dream length goes, are you having your LDs at different times of night? Earlier REM stages are typically farther apart and shorter than the later ones (I think I have that right - anybody can correct me if I'm off). They get longer and closer together toward morning, if you're on a normal sleep schedule. If you had your first LD later on in your sleep, it may have been longer, but if more recent ones are occurring earlier on in the night, they may be shorter naturally.
      LD Counter (as of 07.25.07) = 5 (2 WILDs)
Short-term goal: Recall three full dreams a night for a full week.
Long-term goal: Have three LDs per week for one month.
Longer-term goal: Have one six-hour LD every night! (Shooting too high? We'll see.)
Waking life goal: Round up some NPSG equipment to study my own sleep patterns.

Congratulations! That sounded like a rather exciting dream I was flying a little in mine last night - among other things - but alas, was not lucid.

Anyway, now are you beginning to lose lucidity more quickly or are you waking up more quickly? If it's the first, really all you're going to need is practice. Just constantly remind yourself that you are lucid and do whatever you can to increase the clarity of the dream. If you need another DC to remind you that you're dreaming, do that.

If it's that you're waking up, that's a little different. One thing I've found is that it helps me to focus on my dream body. Sometimes I can feel my sleeping body which is unmoving on my bed, but then my dream body is moving. Focus on the feeling of rubbing your hands together or of walking, or of something else that will keep you in the dream until it becomes clear again. Just keep reminding yourself that you're dreaming.

It'll just take practice, but keep at it! It sounds like you're doing well already

I love that.. saying "thank you" for lucidity while you're flying"!

Ame, gave you some great tips! You might also try touching things (I mean really "feeling" them) to stabilize your dream. Get into how they feel.. are they hot, cold, smooth, rough, etc.. this often helps me remain in a dream longer.

Congratulations on your first LD and may you have many many more!

Congrats on the first LD. It is a great experience no matter how short it is. May you have many more in the future.
