      Aloha!

Aloha all, as you can see, i'm new to the forums, and also pretty new with the whole LD-ing, since i never actually had one!

I've been lurking at the forums and trying to LD for like 3 months now, sadly no luck, or maybe i did have a LD, but i never remembered it, but thats the same

anyway, since i finally started making a account, might as well ask for some help or ideas

i've had a few times now that when i woke in the morning earlier then i was supposed to ( damn you little shouting children! ), i went back to sleep after, and i started to see something like a movie, everything is realistic and detailed, but still, i'm just looking at it as a spectator, and after watching it for a time, i get the urge to open my eyes, and once i open it, i'm just back in my bed.
im seriously wondering if this is supposed to mean something =P

Hi Sammii, and welcome to official DV membership!

The experiences you're describing sound to me like inadvertent wake-back-to-bed (WBTB) LD inductions. When you sleep for a few hours, your REM stages (where dreaming typically takes place) grow closer together. If you wake up before you're "done" sleeping, and then go back to sleep after a short period, your brain is likely to jump quickly into a REM stage (whereas the first REM stages of the night cycle at around 90-minute intervals). Many members around here recommend the WBTB technique for inducing lucid dreams, because you're also more likely to realize you're dreaming and become lucid in these dreams (especially if you spend the break between sleep cycles thinking about and preparing for the dreams).

I would suggest you read some threads, especially in the Tutorials section, to learn more about how to go about improving dream recall, recognizing your dream signs, and entering into and remaining in lucidity once you find that you are, in fact, dreaming.

It sounds like your brain is ready to let you in already. I hope you have some good experiences!

      P.S. - I hope those aren't your children you're decrying.
      LD Counter (as of 07.25.07) = 5 (2 WILDs)
Short-term goal: Recall three full dreams a night for a full week.
Long-term goal: Have three LDs per week for one month.
Longer-term goal: Have one six-hour LD every night! (Shooting too high? We'll see.)
Waking life goal: Round up some NPSG equipment to study my own sleep patterns.

Sounds like hypnogogic imagery to me, its a stage most seem to go through just before falling asleep, its associated with blobs of light, fuzzy to very vivid imagery, sounds etc.
From my experience when i first go to sleep its harder to reach hypnogogic imagery consciously then it is on a morning after a number of hours of sleep. The brain after sleep is often still in dream mode (for want of avoiding words like REM and frequencies heh) and seems to produce these visuals much easier while not stealing your consciousness in the process. Hypnogogic imagery on a morning can be a good indication that you're about to enter a dream too, if you read up on WILDS you'll see its mentioned alot.

I recommend reading the tutorials section, read up on WILDS and maybe have a go at a few techniques :

      Hope that helped somewhat

      Edit:

      Beaten to it :p

I was thinking of HI, but Sammii said s/he was already asleep, so I wasn't sure if that was correct. I should read up on that.

Of all the posts to follow, you give a very informative guide to how REM works, and i use the words "dream mode"

Erm, actually thats a good question, I would of thought it was the same phenomena as you're still falling asleep even if you've woke up just before.

Hypnogogia, also spelled Hypnagogia; and Hypnopompia, are the names of experiences a person can go through when falling asleep in the case of hypnogogia, or waking up, in the case of hypnopompia. When in a hypnogogic or hypnopompic state a person can have lifelike auditory, visual, or tactile hallucinations (known as hypnogogic hallucinations), perhaps even accompanied by full body paralysis. ...
But i suppose there might be a difference as on a night you may not be falling directly into a dream as such... Who knows.. Either way your advice still works

      Edit:
but Sammii said s/he was already asleep
Ahh didnt notice that, i took it as s/he was falling asleep :\
