      dream recall

I've got really terrible dream recall. I remember about two reams a week. I'm an incredibly deep sleeper, so i can't wake myself up after my REM, and while I am laying there, if I tell myself that I am going to remember my dreams, I drift off to other thoughts right before I fall asleep. Does anyone have any good methods?

Hey bennington! and welcome to DV!

Best bet would be to start Dream Journaling if you haven't already. This simply is writing down what you remember of a dream. When you wake up, if you remember a dream, write it down. Anything about it. Be it the whole dream, scattered pieces, a person, a place, a colour, a feeling, a sound or smell. Anything at all.

You can also try the WBTB(Wake Back to Bed). When you go to bed, set your alarm for about 4 hours. Factoring in how long it takes you to fall asleep. Wake up, and do things for about 15 minutes. Be it take a walk, read a book/magazine/the paper, go on the computer, whatever. After about 15 minutes, go back to bed. By doing this, your REM periods get more crunched together once you go back to sleep, causing more vivid and memorable dreams, that you can in turn, journal.

As well as the techniques mentioned above, you could also try brainwave generator (www.bwgen.com) or listening to some subliminal dreaming mp3s to get your subconscious on the subject of dreaming.
