      LDing with Narcolepsy??

      Alright, so I was just diagnosed with Narcolepsy, meaning i go into REM sleep very quickly and pretty much dream a lot. So in the morning and throughout the day I vividly remember about 2 or 3 dreams that I had the night before. Do you think that this will help with LDing?? How should I go about getting into an LD? Let me know what ya think!

      It will definitely help you with lucid dreams. There are many ways to get LDs, but start by writing a dream journal and performing reality checks throughout the day. Hopefully you'll drag this habit into your dreams and realize your dreaming.

      LD Tasks:
      -> Have MILDs at will
      -> Ask my subconcsious mind something deep (i.e. the meaning of life)
      -> Have a fight controlling bullet-time
      -> Call my cell phone and ask the DC who he is

      (i just wonder how many of the people here have undiagnosed forms of that thing.... )

      isn't it kind of strange it didn't already happen to have an ld?
      no idea,you may have a look to WILD and hipnagogic imagery in the tutorials - if you say the rem phase is anticipated or something

      i have no idea, though, if it could do any harm. you should ask someone.

      Holy crap let me look this up...

      Ok!

      From my research so far, it seem that the fact that you enter REM sleep right of the bat could possibly help, but the fact that a person with narcolepsy falls asleep at random could be detrimental for techniques such as WILD and maybe even disturb MILD. Also, narocleptics can have disturbed nocturnal sleep so even if you did get into a lucid, you quite possibly could wake up in the middle of it and be extremely pissed off!

      Also, it says here that symptoms of narcolepsy include sleep paralysis and hypnogogic imagery, two onsets for WILDing. Therefore, it could even contribute to your induction into a WILD.

      Here's another thing...
      some of the aspects of REM sleep that normally occur only during sleep — lack of muscular control, sleep paralysis, and vivid dreams — occur at other times in people with narcolepsy.
      According to this, it might even be possible for you to become lucid in nREM sleep! Crazy!!!

      SO, in all, it seems as if having narcolepsy could help out with your lucid dreaming more than it would inhibit it, but no research has been done with lucid dreaming and narcolepsy so you'd have to figure out how to control your dreams all on your own. Hopefully be harnessing the power to lucid dream, you can out-weigh the negatives of having this type of dyssomnia. I wish you the best of luck with everything!

      Good luck, firf. And welcome to the forum!
