      First attempt at lucid dreaming

I just found out about this lucid dreaming today, and about 15 minutes ago I tried to use the WILD method. I was shocked to find out that after about 60 breaths, I got that cold led quilt feeling everyones talking about. It came on in a matter of seconds too. It was so cool. I kept doing what I was doing, concentrating on counting my breaths, and after about 150 breaths I felt like my head was bobbing, then like my bed was shaking, and then I realized I was twitching my body unwillingly. So I got up and my heart was racing, I was sweating everywhere. Really strange, not sure if that's normal or not... anyway I'm going to try it again, just didn't want to wait till tomorrow to post this.

Hey there, welcome to Dream Views!

Trying WILD on your first go? Not exactly the best idea ever, it's devilishly hard to do for even the most experience lucid dreamers.

If I were you I'd keep a dream journal, find your dream signs, integrate reality checks into your day to day life and maybe give techniques such as MILD a go.

By all means keep on with WILD, but don't be put off by failure, the technique can dishearten so many.

Yeah I'm not sure how but I think I made it through the night without having a single dream, I must have gotten side tracked or something

I'll just get to the point where my body goes numb and I'm not really thinking about my body or anything, still have conscious thought, but never really dream.

Oh and I also heard car honking sounds which could have actually been outside, I'm not sure lol

Well you obviously did dream, just just didn't remember them. Try going to bed repeating to yourself that you'll remember your dreams, works wonders for some people. Also, waking up during an REM period works wonders for some with their recall. I've known people go as far as to set their alarm to every 90 minutes so that they remember. A little excessive, but it can do wonders for recall when you first start.

Thanks I'll try that next time lol

Maybe I should mention too that lucid dreams have always happened naturally since I can remember, but at completely random times. I have made myself fly in dreams before and it is a lot of fun when you really believe it's real.

In fact I can kind of remember one of my dreams from second grade in which I was in my backyard back in new york, and I was sitting at a desk with that bitch of a teacher I had lecturing at me. And somehow I just knew I was dreaming, I raised my hand and told my teacher that I knew I was dreaming but I couldn't wake up, and she ignored me so I climbed up the side of my house and.... something about a computer monitor having an orange light on it instead of a green light...(wtf idk) then my dad was out in the backyard and he was yelling at me to get down from there and I started flying onto the chimney but I was suddenly in a sort of dragonball z looking environment (I used to watch that show when I was a kid) idk it's all so vague now

hmm if you believe it's real then it's not a lucid dream.

Yeah, lucid dreaming is knowing that you're dreaming, not controlling your dreams. They often go hand in hand, but people often get confused with that difference.

I tried using WBTB last night after 5 and a half hours of sleeping, but I couldn't concentrate and I just ended up loosing consciousness while counting in my head. I think I was just too tired. Maybe next time I'll wait 6 hours, or get some coffee and stay awake for an hour.
