      lucid + paranoid = D:

so last night i was up searching aliens and all the other paranormal stuff. after about an hour of being creeped out by stories and videos i was in a state of paranoia. i mean it wasnt too bad because i was able to block out thoughts like "theres an alien standing in the hallway" or "there is someone outside my window(which is right beside my bed)". so confident in my abilities to block out these thoughts i thought i could get a try a lucid dreaming. so i turned off the light and laid down on my bed, staring at the back of my eyelids. everything seemed fine. my computer was buzzing slightly like always and it was a little cold. Last night was the farthest i have ever gotten to that
point where your body falls asleep but your mind is awake. but it was freaky. as i was laying there i heard some noises outside...maybe from my dogs or just imagined them. usually i would disregard them and continue trying to sleep, but those paranormal vids had me in a state of paranoia. I suddenly thought to myself there was someone outside my window, but i didnt want to get up because i was so close to thedreaming experience. then finally, there was a click. it sounded like my computer or something, but it was amplified. after that click i found myself staring into a black abyss. it didnt feel like my eyelids anymore, it just felt like i was staring into a large room of blackness. then some sort of rushing feeling went all over me and i started freaking out. i have never gotten to this point of actually feeling like your not where you are in the physical world. then to top it all off, i hear a couple more noises outside. my control over the paranoid feelings let loose, and i started hearing and seeing stuff that i would find horrifying... like a face starting at you in the darkness or creepy noises. finally, it felt like there was someone just right beside my bed, and there were more clicking noises. i now know that those probably came from my computer, but then i thought it was for sure from this being who was standing by my bed. a rush of anxiety hit me and i couldnt take it anymore. i opened my eyes and they darted across the room, searching for something freaky. after nothing was seen, i got up and turned off the light (it was very scary just to do this) and got on my computer. yeah that sucked. next time i try, hopefully i won't be prescared or something. BUT i went on to sleep later and had a dream. i wasn't in control of it obviously, but i dreamnt. it was a bus crash dream where we flew off the highway, but to tell you the truth, i wasnt freaked out even though it felt like i was there. flying through the air down from the highway thing was kinda fun. but anywhoo just felt like posting this to warn others not to watch creepy videos or read creepy stories before attempting lucidity

      Hey, welcome to the forum.

That does sound like a bad experience. The imagery in a WILD can often be scary, so it's best not to freak yourself out before trying. You got incredibly far with it though, brilliant for a beginner, so well done on that. Even the best struggle with WILD.

      Welcome to the forum unger

Yeah the HI with Sleep Paralysis(SP) can be very scary especially if you were just looking paranormal stuff up. This state can also cause your mind to lose a sense of reality so you might believe that that stuff is really happening to you, it doesn't help when it's so realistic too.

Infact most possesions and Alien abductions are believed to have happened because of this.

All that you can do is just think "This is not real, it's just halucinations". Also make sure that you know that you cannot be hurt, you are completely safe.
