      Just a few questions.

Well, first off I can only remember having 3 lucid dreams and only one could I control and that was only for small things. Please forgive me if these questions have been asked before. I know it can be frusterating when newbies keep asking the same questions over and over. I skimmed a few threads and I was wondering, what does going WILD mean?. Also what is RC short for. And is this normal. In some of my non lucid dreams I can't stand up right. It like there is a very strong force holding in the position when you bow. Also it sometimes feels like my legs weight a ton and I have trouble walking. Like I'm walking through deep water, but a bit harder than that. In a couple of my dreams my thunb will get stuck straight up and it is very hard to bend it back forward. I even had a dream when I appeared naked in school. Thanks for the help!!!

First up, welcome to the forum!

WILD means 'Wake Induced Lucid Dream', it's a particularly hard induction technique, but staff member Clairity has written a blinding tutorial for how to do them so check it out here. http://www.dreamviews.com/community/...233#post476233

An RC is a reality check, a test performed to see if you're dreaming, for more information check this handy thread out http://www.dreamviews.com/community/...ead.php?t=4470

Never come across that before, but what it is is a 'Dream Sign', an indicator that you're dreaming. Seems to be a common one for you. People look out for dream signs and reality check when they come across them, increases chances of lucidity to no end. Lucky you having such an obvious one.

[Its not so much going WILD but the term is used to define the Wake Induced Lucid Dream technique in which you wake up then slip back into your dreams during the REM perios but remain conscious. I would highly recommend Clarities WILD technique found here: http://www.dreamviews.com/community/showthread.php?t=37749]. Also what is RC short for [Reality Check. It is a simple check performed throughout the day to confirm you are awake. What you would typically do is look for your dream signs, so these are common occurrences within your dreams like, always dreaming of a person or object, and when you come across these in waking like you perform the reality check with a view to embedding this process into your subconscious so you perform this in a dream to become lucid]. And is this normal [Yes]. In some of my non lucid dreams I can't stand up right. It like there is a very strong force holding in the position when you bow. [these are common dreams and happen to a lot of people, they can be used as good dream signs as they differ from waking life]
I hope this helps answer your questions. If you need to know any more please shout. And welcome to the forum

So let me get this straight. WILDs are different that lucid dreaming. And when you WILD you are awake, but asleep at the same time? A bit confusing. I'll tell you what I have so far. Lucid dreaming is when your dreaming and you know it. But WILD is when your subconscious mind goes to sleep, but you are still awake. So it feels like you are awake, but really are sleeping. Also how do you know that this stuff is safe? I'm still a bit confused so please help me before I end up like this guy.

You are asleep still when you WILD. Basically you fall asleep, well your body does, but your mind is aware of your dream state since you are supposed to slip right back into REM.

So basically when you DILD you realise you are dreaming when sleeping

When you WILD you fall to sleep but remain conscious and are instantly aware you are dreaming

If this is still not cclear please say. It can all get a bit daunting at first

What is the difference between the two. Is one better? Do you get the same effect with both. In both can you control what happens?

      Okay

DILD - Dream Induced Lucid Dream - When you sleep you dream, typically during the REM period, and when in your dream if you recognise you are dreaming you become lucid, this is known as a DILD

WILD - Wake Induced Lucid Dream - For this you wake up during the REM cycle, then attempt to go back to sleep, and slip back into a dream within the REM period. But you don't fall to sleep normally by loosing consciousness, you remain conscious but still fall into a dream and are instantly lucid.

Is there any proof that this stuff is safe? Also what can I do to stop those things from happening. Like when I can't stand up straight. Is there anything I can about that?

There is nothing to say it is not safe, which is good enough for me. After all you are only dreaming. I have been lucid dreaming for about 14 years and I am fine

If you can't stand up it is because you are not lucid and you dont have control of the dream, so weird things like this, along with not being able to run or fight happen. When you are lucid however you have full control and can do what you like so will not be faced with these bouncaries.

When lucid you'll find you have more control over your dreams than regular ones. With practice you'll be able to make it so you can stand up straight with ease.

And the proof that this stuff is safe is in Stephan LaBerge's research and the fact that everyone here does it with no negative side effects.

DILD's can be spontaneous, though once you learn your dream signs and get reality checks to be a habit, you'll find them coming in at a steady enough flow.

EDIT: What Adam said in the post bellow me.

I would try the following to aid your journey. It could take days, weeks, months or years (doubt it would be years). Depends on the person.

You need to have the following to help you.

      - Good dream recall
      - Vivid dreams
      - Reliable dream signs
      - Reality Checks
      - Dream Journal

These are some starting points for you to concentrate on. If you pop them into search you should find plenty of information on them

I have been doing reality checks. I also have thought of a few things that are signs I'm dreaming. I missed out last night. I had a dream where I had problems standing like I sometimes do, but it just never clicked in the dream that I was dreaming. Also, there where a few give aways that never clicked either. Like there was killer whales and dolphins in the Great Lakes. I also saw tones of goldfish simming around in there too. But I still didn't make the connection. I woke up and the first thing out of my mouth was DAMN IT. I missed it. Oh, well it was my first night of trying for a DILD. Then something very odd happened. After I woke up I was still feeling tired this morning, but I was trying to stay awake. Then I fell asleep, but was awake at the same time. I couldn't move or open my eyes, but I was conscious. Then, I got this wierd falling/sinking feeling. Then I heard these loud noises. But nothing was making these noises. It was the sound of waves crashing on the beach and this woman talking. Then there where like a couple blury images starting to form for a second. I kind of got a little worried and then it all stopped and I could move agian and all the sounds where gone. I read a bit more on WILDs and do you think I accidentally had one this morning. Anyway I was kind of worried because I couldn't move. This has happened to me before. Except in the middle of the night I wake up and can't move and my face is in my pillow and I am having trouble breathing because of it. It is kind of scarry. The only thing I can do is wait untill I can move or go back to sleep and wake back up and be able to move. Anyway, any thoughts on what happened this morning? Thanks for the help.

What you're describin is sleep paralysis. You get it if you awake directly out of the REM-Phase. It's normal, since the body is paralysed during this phase to ensure that any movement you perform in your dream isn't performed in the real world. You can use this very good to get into an LD by using WILD.

The sounds are HI (Hypnagogic Imagery). As posted in Clarity's WILD tutorial:
