      Hello again

Ok, hi people, I heard about this place ages ago, made an account and did some research, but then stopped because: A). Something creeps me out about lucid dreaming and B). Waking up in the night to record dreams is too annoying. So yeah, unfourtunately i'd forgot about Licid dreaming, which seemed like such an awsome thing to do.

But waking up this morning I couldnt get out of bed as usual, so I dozed off again... In then dream I found myself in some kind of harbour with errr 'europeanish' style architecture buildings, it really caught my attention that the detail was so good and I had never even seen the place before. Standing there realising that this was weird I had a hunch, was I dreaming?? Excited I looked out to the water, and what did I see? There were multiple boats on the water, but the focal point was some woman who my eyes immediately found, she was standing beside the boats 'walking' on water acting all normal. As soon as I saw this unfourtunately excitement got me, my head felt crazy and I was 'sucked' out of the dream to my body, but still dreaming O_o. Man, it felt like I was a trapped spirit and when I moved my body didnt do anything, I could see but I couldnt utter any sound or even budge. Rather unpleasant, but worth it because I had just had a lucid dream.

So anyways, now I feel like I want to commit to learning Lucid dreams... just wondering anyone got any tips for me on anything? If your lazy like me and dont wanna wake every 90 min and record dreams is there any advice? Or can you help with my fears, how'd you get over any fears you had or any bad experiences encourted lucid dreaming.

Yeah, please reply, I want some more enlightenment before I go to sleep xD.

Hi, welcome back to Dream Views.

So you were lucid for an instant then awoke and found yourself in sleep paralysis. Hope it didn't frighten you. Waking up paralysed happens when your mind wakes up before your body does. Or, it can happen just before sleep, your body falls asleep before your mind does. How WILDs work. Anyway, a few seconds and usually the paralysis breaks.

And if you already knew all that sorry for wasting your time.

There is nothing to be afraid of with Lucid Dreams. You can't be hurt in the dream so there's nothing to fear really. If you're really afraid of bad things that might come in lucid dreams, you should attempt Clairitys WILD technique or something similar as you intend to lucid dream.

You dont' have to wake up every 90 minutes to jot down dreams. There is the Wake Back to Bed method where you wake up for a little while early each morning then go back to sleep with the intent to remember a dream or to attempt lucid.

And some people, like me, can sleep through the night and wake up to recall their dreams in the morning. From what I hear though Wake Back to Bed is supposed to be good, if you want to try that. It's in the tutorials secton of the site.

Sorry that was so long. I'll shut up now. I bet Lucid Seeker beat me to posting all of this anyway. Let's see.

Ah cool, thanks for the reply, I think i'll just try to remember dreams when I wake up for now, and if that doesnt work i'll try that Wake Back to Sleep technique.

Yeah as for my fears, I havnt had/remembered a nightmare in years, and im trying to keep it that way, their not fun at all . I used to hate sleeping...

Haha Vex, i was eating my lunch! (damn you )

Well the advice given by Vex above is very good and i don't think i can really expand on it that much, i'll try.

Well you will find that you don't have to wake every 90 minutes to record a dream, though recall is important it does not have to be perfect that you remember every single dream, you will find that if you wake naturally after a dream, try recalling it but don't write it down, just put out the intention to remember it when you wake properly, don't feel pushed into waking up every 90 minutes though! To start trying some lucid dream induction techniques you should maybe attempt to remember two dreams a day, but expand on it if you like

Once you have worked up your recall you may want to try some induction techniques which i'm sure you know are in the Tutorials section. I recommend trying the MILD and WBTB technique, feel free to try others if you wish but these have been known to show good results. WILD on the other hand shows very good results but it is a difficult technique to grasp for some, don't get me wrong, you could be very good at it but the general majority find it a bit harder than most techniques.

I have not had a long enough lucid dream yet to face up to my fears but my suggestion is to bring in your fear and find a way of dealing with it that suits you best, if you get used to your fear and see it as something to not be afraid of then it will not be a fear anymore, just play around, lucid dreaming can be so helpful

Anyways if you have any more questions feel free to ask

EDIT: Don't worry about nightmares, they can be incredibly vivid and scary at times but its best not to worry about them, you can even use them to your advantage, because your emotions are higher in nightmares you are naturally a bit more aware which gives you the opportunity to think more consciously in the dream thus allowing you to question whether or not it is a dream and the hopefully becoming lucid. I wish i had more nightmares, that way i'd get lucid dreams more often. Just don't worry about them, they are not real, and they can help you become lucid! I've not had a nightmare in years, i think alot of it is because i tend not to worry about them, they don't really bother me that much. If you ever want to talk about anything realted to that don't hesitate in asking for help

Haha, Lucid Seeker, I even posted twice here while you were gone. That will teach you to nourish your body.

b4ckwash, my entire young life was pretty much nothing but nightmares. Since I started seriously lucid dreaming I rarely ever have a nightmare any more. Even in regular dreams that would normally be scary there is an underlying sense of safety now. I just know I can't be hurt even though I'm not actually aware that i"m dreaming. Of course, it took facing those nightmares and overpowering them to get to this point but it was worth it. Haven't had a nightmare in years and it feels great.

      *edit*

My favorite is the nose plug check.
Plug your nose tightly and try inhale through it. If you can still breath in then you must be dreaming. If you can't you must be awake. It does work.

b4ckwash i tend to do a full awareness check which Lucius taught me, you basically analyse your surroundings and look for signs that will tell you whether or not you are dreaming, you also ask yourself what you have done in the past hour and what you intend to do, ask yourself if the setting seems right, if you do a full awareness check it is unlikely that it will fail you because its like your building up evidence to prove that you are dreaming, however it requires that you put in effort, you need to truly mean it when you do the awareness check in your day to day life because if you do it properly and you happen to do it in a dream it is not likely to fail you.

Thats what i do anyways, thanks to Lucius.

Well, I've done it before, I can't really explain how I did it though, I just did it. I sort of just like closed my eyes really tight and focused on waking up (I think). It is possible though, hoped that helped.

You can wake up at will when lucid dreaming, a good way to do so is to get excited and happy and getting your mind active so that your body can wake up also, you could also tell yourself to wake up and demand it to happen but its possible that you may have a false awakening if so, just experiment with it

Most of the time you want to stay in the dream and are fighting to stay asleep. I guess the more you want to wake up the harder it will be and the other way around. Your dreams are in your control and the "I want to wake up" comand might be interpreted the wrong way and you might wake up in your dream, which is called a false awakening. They happen from time to time when you expect you're waking up. So a RC in the morning is a good idea.

      Also welcome!
