      The impact of stress

      Hey.
For the past month or so, I've been working on my dream recall. So far I feel that I've progressed well, I went from remembering a couple dreams a week to atleast one or two a night. However, the school year is fast approaching, and this being my final year of high school, the workload will be great. I am a relatively high-strung person in the first place, and so my fear is that with the added stress of school, I could run into complications with my progression towards having lucid dreams.
My question to you, is if you think that this will have a big impact on my ability to remember my dreams, and if so I'd appreciate any tips on reducing stress or maintaining my current dream recall.
      Thank you.

Yeah, I reckon stress does affect your dreams quite a bit. My suggestion, don't worry about it for a while and then once your all settled down, find the time for lucid dreaming. Stress can be a huge block.

      Hey there,

It will have an impact, quite likely, but how much of an impact partially depends on how much you let it have an impact. There's still many things you can do to reduce the impact stress can have. Pay enough attention to your dreams, write down a to do list for the next day when you go to sleep so you don't constantly have tomorrow on your mind, designate your sleeping place and tell yourself that when you enter it you leave school and all its worries behind. Etc etc.

Stress is a killer because it tends to take our focus away from dreaming, towards something else. The main thing to do is to try not to let that happen. I'm sure there's plenty of good tips on the internet on dealing with stress too.

Hey Hamell, welcome to the forum

Well i know it can be frustrating, i myself start college tomorrow and i'm going to be under loads of pressure to do work and stuff and i must admit that i have not thought about my recall, i have an okay recall, two or three dreams a night i remember, but i think the key is not to worry about it, if you think about it too much you may create the problem yourself, you'd be putting yourself under stress by worrying that you'd lose your recall and it most likely would happen. Just stay calm and see what happens, i got a big year ahead of me and i don't know what to expect, but if we stay calm and positive about the situations then we will deal with them better. Sure, stress kills dream recall, but its up to you to manage the stress and keep it under control. I wish you the best year at high school
