      Question LD Instead of Psychedelics

      Hi all,
(this is my first post.) I became interested in lucid dreaming after I quit drinking and using drugs, and started to have extremely vivid dreams, but not necessarily lucid. The first month or so being sober I could recall many of my dreams, and still can.

One of my favorite class of drugs was pschedelics (but, unfortunately I love opiates a bit too much as well) and I have been happy to find out that dreaming and the psychedelic experiance (or entheogenic) are very similar. I guess I'm wondering if lucid dreaming can 'satisfy' my thirst for psychedelics...any thoughts or comments would be much appreciated and welcomed.

      Thanks

Hi Samson. I'm relatively new to LD. I've been aware for about 7 or 8 years now but haven't practiced too much and I usually just stick with what I know. First, it's great that you quit drinking and doing drugs. Second, I think LD may satisfy your thirst but perhaps it will take a long time as you get better at it. I'm brand new to this forum and it seems as if there are a lot of really smart people on here who've been doing it a lot longer than me so hopefully they'll be able to give you better insight! Good luck!

yeah i think that you can have actually have a more psychedelic experience in a dream because when 'tripping' you are still bound by the confines of reality.

I think that dreaming can be better than psychedelics. You can experience the most amazing, visionary, and other-worldly experiences imaginable.
There are many paths to reach this level, but there are some short-cuts: for example you can take a drug while in a lucid dream, and I mean a drug that appears in your dream, not a real drug. The effect will be unpredictable and will differ each time, but many people reported experiencing the same effects of the real drug. But even without taking drugs inside a dream you can have the most amazing experiences, and there are so many advantages over drugs, to name a few:
      no health risks or discomfort
      no risk of psychological problems
      no legal problems
      it's free
      no hangover or after-effects
A generous heart, kind speech, and a life of service
and compassion are the things which renew humanity.

      Hello there SamsonStumbles and

Lucid Dreaming can definately satisfy your needs and help you out, you can do pretty much anything in a lucid dream and since you can control the level of vividness in your lucid dream you should be able to make it as real as you want it to be, but you must realise that these things require control and practice, lucid dreaming comes fast for some and longer for others, you seem to be doing well because you can remember alot of vivid dreams already.

Maybe try keeping a dream journal, analysing your dreams to see if you can find patterns or regular signs that appear in your dreams and then make it clear in your head that the next time you experience such signs you will be dreaming, this will help you become lucid. However there are loads of methods to become lucid so just check out the tutorials section for them

Great question. Yes, I believe you can satisfy your need for trippy experiences by learning lucid dreaming. A good lucid dream is better than any drug induced experience - and I've had my fair share.

The challenge is to ramp up quickly and make consistent progress so you don't ge discouraged and give up. I would suggest a broad range of reading and personal experimentation. Don't get caught up too far in one method someone thinks is great but isn't working for you.

Like anything psychedelic should be used with care, and respect.

Also, you can try this . I heard that many started to do image streaming exercises and it gave them interesting experiences while they was awake (but still, without any risk of losing the mind ).
I think that lucid dreaming and image streaming can make a great team
