      Hello

      Hi,
Well, I'm new obviously. And I have one question. I have problems falling asleep and usually staying asleep. So my doctor told me to take a natural sleeping pill called melatonin. And I was wondering if that could some how effect my dreams? Cause I'm one of those people who believes that dreams can tell you something about a persons waking life and I dont want to really miss anything.

I'm not sure, I've never taken Melatonin. I'm sure someone else on here has, so they are much better suited to help you.
If you have any other questions, just ask

Melatonin can help you sleep, as well as sleeping pills can, and without bad side effects. Altho some people say that it enhances their dreams, I think generally it is thought to suppress dreaming while it is in your system. That's OK, tho because the melatonin wears off quickly, and if you get a lot of deep sleep early in the night, you will have REM re-bound later in the morning hours. So you get the best of both--help getting to sleep, and more dreams later.

Some thing to remember--it's best to take the least amount that helps you get to sleep, and not every single night, so you don't suppress your brain's endogenous production.

      P.S. Welcome to Dream Views!
