      Hypnologic Imagery Question

How do you focus on your imagery? I have been playing around with WILD and I can focus in two different ways and get some results. However, whenever I have seen HI I'm not sure in what way I was focusing. It almost felt like I was focusing in both ways.

The first way I can focus is by what feels like focusing through my eyes. I still get some imagery, but my eyes have this unfortunate habit of crossing so they can focus in closer. And the imagery is very rudimentary and isn't very clear. Usually swirling white, but as I've read that somewhat sounds like imagery most people see. Perhaps there's too much light in the room and my eyes can detect it through my eyelids.

The second way is by imagining something in my head; like one would do in a day dream. I think about what I want to see and it fades in, but from a place that feels very deep in my head. Like a second pair of eyes. If I concentrate hard it can prove to be rather clear. This would seem like the right place to focus, but I'm not sure because it's rather difficult to focus on and many of the WILD tutorials I've found talk about relaxing and maintaining a more meditative state of mind. Which would explain my failure thus far.

How do you guys see the HI? And how clear is it?

Also I've had some experiences lately where I was very stoned and felt almost a sort of aura that I was in a lucid dream. Of course I wasn't (I hope. >.> Creeeeeppyyyyy...) but I've been smoking for about 3 years now and have never felt such a thing and I thought it might be worth mentioning.

My HI starts out as undulating smokey whisps. I simply watch it do what it will and eventually it forms into shapes, usually geometric patterns that get more elaborate the longer I watch. That then shifts suddenly into a dream scene and I'm there, lucid, in dream.

It starts out barely visible then gets more vivid the closer I get to sleep (i assume). Sometimes it becomes colored, but usually it remains a very faint grey or barely dicernable greenish tint.

Though, sometimes just before the HI forms into a scene I'll feel this odd little shifting sensation in my mind that alerts me that I've just fallen asleep, and at that point I open my eyes and wake up in a dream, usually still lying on my bed.

Don't focus too hard on the HI, let it do whatever and passively watch. Don't focus too hard on any one aspect of it. Take it all in and every so often silently reaffirm that you're dreaming.

DimAspiration, what has happened to me in the past was that a geometric pattern would form before my eyes. I then simply concentrated on one of the squares and found myself being drawn into it (and it was then that I'd realize I was dreaming).

I used to have vibrations and the loud *fingernails on the chalkboard* sounds when I had my first few WILDs, but sadly now I no longer feel vibrations, see patterns nor hear sounds. I miss them as they let me know I had entered mind awake/body asleep.

      PS.. love your avatar!

So what do you see now? Do you just suddenly snap into a dream without HI at all?

      P.S. Thanks.

Does it feel like you're imagining the scene or seeing it with your eyes? I've had some pretty vivid visuals before that look like another place. I've even felt like I was half in that place, but I think I got too anxious and tried to open my eyes only to find I was still where I was before the dream.

Pretty much.. I just feel this "shift" or "warp" in consciousness and I'm suddenly lucid (no HI at all).

i get that feeling very strongly after i have used a psychedelic (psilocybin, lsa, salvia) like while on them ill feel like im in a lucid dream.... even after the drug had worn off, if i smoke pot, the lucid feeling comes back... i dont find it creepy at all, im used to it, i actually enjoy the feeling.
