teach me the ropes?

it was just yesterday that i learned of lucid dreaming for the first time, and just today that i found this site. im very interested in the concept of lucidity, and want to know everything i can about how to achieve it. all i really know so far is that you have to be very relaxed and focused, and one forum i read suggested putting marks on your hands, so that if they disappear, you know your asleep. im also familier with the other "signs". please, if anyone can tell me how to have such dreams and control them, i would greatly appreciate it. thank you.
