      So Excited!

Hey LDers! I have pretty chronic SP with periods of between several days and several weeks where I will have one or repeated episodes every night. They have always evoked panic and then i'm always afraid to allow myself to go back to sleep. However, while doing research on SP, i found out that it can actually lead to a WILD! I had no idea SP was related to LD! Now i don't think i will be afraid anymore. I actually can't wait for it to happen so i can see if i can achieve lucidity! I'm 19 and from Texas. I would REALLY appreciate any tips experienced LDers can offer me! thanks!

      Hey there, welcome to DV!

Good job getting over SP. I know it can be scary, but it really is nothing to be afraid of.

      Good luck!

to Dreamviews where you will get all the help you could need and a lot that you dont.
I will restrict my greeting to the welcome as I am not experienced in SP, (do I even know what it means?) and have only had 2 LD's but I am only relatively new to the program.
If you have any Q's about life, then I may be able to advise cause I have had a lot of it, I'm the old man of the site...

I need to find a smiley with a walking stick.

Got a bit off track there.
Back to the point. Welcome again and best wishes.

Hey welcome to the forum, good luck getting into SP now you know about it! I used to have the same then found this forum in January - I experienced SP for the first time since last month!!

Anyway, all you need to do, and it is really simple, is when you awake in SP (assuming for you it is the same for me, your mind wakes up in the morning before your body?) you will have the initial panic, that will never go away, but then after a few seconds you will realise it is SP and in actual fact it is still really just part of a dream, I just 'roll out' of the SP and into the dream.

Sounds weird, but you cannot roll your self physically, which is the problem with SP and why we suffer and panic, but if you dont think about rolling your physical self but just your astral self you should be able to get into a lucid dream from here

Anyway welcome to the forum, and enjoy your stay

Welcome indeed. Yeah, don't let sleep paralysis frighten you. Luckily, you now know that it's nothing that will harm you or stick around for any extended duration. It can be scary but rest assured that you are safe and no harm will come of it. Rather than let it upset you, try to embrace it and experience it with wonder and anticipation. Then you'll find it to be a friend, not an enemy.

      Thanks!

A big thanks to everyone for all of the warm welcomes! Just to update....still not lucid. I do think i got pretty close two nights ago. As i was falling asleep i kept repeating to myself 'I will remember I am dreaming'. Just as i fell asleep i think i got too excited because before anything happened i woke up. Its progress though! I think....lol! Well, all i can do is keep trying!

      Another Update

Just another update for anyone interested. Last night I was actually able to induce sleep paralysis for the first time by repeating a sentence as i was falling asleep. My prediction from my original post was VERY wrong. The initial panic was still there(and probably always will be) but i managed to calm myself down and tried to ready myself for an LD. After a few seconds, however, i began to hallucinate! I have NEVER hallucinated during SP (I guess because i always managed to break it in time). It was just a face, not a head, floating towards me. I panicked. I remember thinking "Oh hell no. Lucid is not worth this" so i forced myself out of it. But i really do think its worth it! i was just scared. Now i regret breaking it.

      Congratulations on entering SP!
You're not alone with saying that LD isn't worth it. I've had hallucinations of footsteps, creaking doors, and the feeling of being hit by a truck . I backed out every time.
Next time try thinking pleasant thoughts during the HI, it might help.
