I think theres a lot going on here that explains it.
First of all, in the first approx. 6 hours of sleep, you get very little dreaming done. Its mostly 'delta' sleep which is a fancy way of saying your body is recooperating.

      That leaves 2 hours.
Firstly dreams normally run quite a bit faster than real life
Thats because when you eg. drive to the shop, you don't really notice the entire drive on the way there. Like a movie does it.
Thus its less thought needed, so it happens quicker in your head.

So far I'm contradicting you then
I think in your case, you probably only remember the most recent dream that you had that night.
There were probably a whole bunch of other ones you forgot because that last dream became more important to your mind (and memory)
Try practicing recalling your dreams better

You can last as long as you can. THe more experience you have you can spend longer in the dream.

One guys reported he spent 90 years in a dream...if that was bull or not, its cool.

The most I have spent in a LD is what seemed like 8 hours, but I have no way of telling how much it really was in dream time. In real time it was about two and a half hours, I believe...

With practice you will be able to learn how to keep your dream from fading, and making it as long as posible...

It's most likely your recall. If you work on that you'll be able to remember more of your dreams.

If you are sleeping in 8 hours, you are propably only dreaming in 2-3 hours.
Dreaming is only a part of the sleeping cycle, but not the only one.

We have e.g. deep sleep, when the brain only perform primitive tasks like breathing, etc.
      Are you dreaming?
