How would you classify this dream experience?

I went to bed at 10:00 pm last night. I repeated over and over that I would have lucid dreams and that I would recognize when I was dreaming. I was drifting in and out of sleep without really having started to dream yet, when I saw light welling up in my eyes and then my eyes started to twitch. It felt like my body was ready to enter a dream state while I was still conscious. But, then I woke up because my wife had the light on and was reading a book. It was only 10:50 pm. I didn't experience this again after that. Was this some kind of WILD? Or something different. Is it even possible to drift into lucid dreams so early after going to bed?

Yes, it sounds like it was a beginning of WILD. It is possible to WILD early in the night, but for most people it is more difficult than in the early morning hours in conjunction with WBTB.

Well that sounds like the beginning of a WILD to me but you say you "woke up". Does this mean that you were already dreaming?

I wasn't dreaming anything at the time, but I wasn't fully conscious either. I was awake enough to hear sounds around me and feel my body, but not enough to realize that my wife had the light on either. I guess I should say that my experience was interrupted rather than "I woke up".

Labbo, I've noticed that in EVERY post you've made since you've joined you mentioned this book. Is that really necessary?
