Hey! I'm new, and I tried lucid dreaming for the first time last night.

      Hey!
I've been reading this website for a few days now, and yesterday I attempted to become lucid in my dream for the first time.
It didn't work, but hey, it was only the first time!
I tried to remain concious when I was in the transition from being awake and being asleep. I felt as if I couldn't move...and you know that feeling where you're on a roller coaster and your stomach jumps? I had that feeling too.

So I tried doing something I read on here...I imagined myself walking through my house to see if I would become lucid. I found it very difficult to focus on one thing. My thoughts felt far away and distant..and I couldn't focus on one thing, I kept forgetting. So I did not become lucid.

I set my alarm for 4:30am...and I remembered my dream! I NEVER remember my dreams so this was pretty cool. I wrote it down and tried to go back to sleep. I tried the remaining concious thing again...telling myself that I was going to dream and become lucid over and over...and I don't really know if I fell asleep. I kept thinking of things in my mind..my body felt heavy..and I tried to do a reality check to see if I was dreaming but again my thoughts were so distant I couldn't focus. I looked at the clock again and it was 5:47, so I don't know if I was awake the entire time or if I was dreaming and didn't know it. Anyhow, I'm going to keep trying!

      Any pointers?
      Anything I'm doing wrong?
      Thanks!

There are loads of nice people here so they will be more then happy to answer your questions.

Thats some good progress you made with the WILD its a difficult technique for me personally but I would suggest that if you feel at all like your dreaming do a RC it may work it may not. As far as techniques for entering the dream im not sure if im the one to help with technique to enter the dream but all I have done is roll out of bed.

It is interesting. I am a newbee too. And what i try can be described to be nearly the same as you do. I am trying SP too, and the same comes. You know Heaviness, partial paralysis and some distance in thoughts. The best about dreaming is, that when you give some time to it, it pays back. You feel you are more connected with yourself. I have founded my dream journal too. And the dreams after few attempts became more vivid. Cool about it is, that if you are not concentrated on remembering you loose the dream. What a cool thing. You have to will it, it is like a bonus to your real life and you have to proove you really wish it. Dreaming is superb and of course, it is yours and noone may steal it from you, except from yourself.

I have found one citate about lucid dreaming. One member has told it in one discussion.

Lucid dreaming made me wanna go to sleep.
Good luck and keep us informed about your work, about your successes, so we may live them with you and about your problems, so we may help to solve them.

So last night was eventful yet uneventful at the same time.

As I was falling asleep, I remained concious throughout sleep paralysis, which was a really freakin weird experience. I could not move my body, I saw colours, and I heard a buzzing noise in my left ear. I kept telling myself, "I'm dreaming, I'm dreaming," hoping to be able to jump into a lucid dream.

My mind was really unfocused though, and before I could think of a dream to jump into, I fell asleep.

It was cool remaining concious during sleep paralysis though. I guess that's kind of a "feat" if you could call it that.

When I woke up at 4:30am to record my dream, I could only very vaguly remember something and I was so tired that I forgot to record it, and i also forgot to try the method again.

      Oh well!

Glad to hear, that you achieved Sleep paralysis. I am just to learn it. Still little disconcentrated. And now having some flu. SO its hard to be concentrated.

As for the recall. The dream is like a whisper. Everytime you make something disturbing. Everytime you dont remain calm, the dream disappears. I often try to stay calm and just enjoy the state of half sleep, and sometimes it happens, that the dream comes together with previous dreams. Its actually really cool to observe how the brain react when you try something new...

Would be fine to find out, how the people regain their IQ in a dream. The mind tends to be really lazy in a dream. Probably. Its about the experience..

Glad you are making progress. Keep us informed. Bye ... for now.
