      New To LD'n

Hey all, this might get annoying, especially for more experienced L-Dreamers. But i am new to lucid dreaming, and i am very very eager to become competant.

I am going to start tonight, and repeat to myself over and over "i am going to wake up while im dreaming", i want to know if this has worked for anyone before. I dont have a very good dream recall, but one thing i do recall is trying to do something like jump...but i cant. This i sometimes remember and think about, before i knew anything about LD's, i used to think, "dude, your dreamin, you can do whatever u want, why couldnt u do that". Do you think this may be a personall sign for me?

      Anyway nice to meet yall

Hey, what you are describing is something called 'autosuggestion' - and its is a very powerfull technique for some people.

      Welcome to DV

Sounds like a plan and that might be one of your dreamsigns. Have you started your dream journal yet? It is a great help!

      Re: New To LD'n

First of all WELCOME TO DV!!!!!!!! There's nothing annoying about being inexperienced! No way! That's why this forum is here.

Anyway, I'd say that this jumping thing may well be a sort of dream sign. Try to do reality checks at that time. Whenever you try to jump but can't, ask yourself if you're dreaming. See if that sparks lucidity.

      Glad to have you here!

Holy shit.... never thought id get this kind of response wo0t

Well needless to say, i just woke up, but didnt go to well ya know. I kept on saying to myself "i am going to wake up while dreaming" but it wasnt the last thought going through my head im sure. Im pretty sure i woke up a few times during the night, but the only dream that was clear in my head was something that lasted for about 3 seconds. I woke up, decided id write it down, but didnt think 3 seconds was important, so i just went back to sleep.

So i have nothing in my dream journal, and i dont know what to do with dream recall. But the strange thing is, right now, i remember a long dream, but not the specifics. Anyway, thanks for the warm greet, later.

      WELCOME SUBZ0R!!!!

Don't worry about those small details...yet. The first step is to at least remember some of the details of the dream, and writing them down. After a while your recall will increase severely and all those details will come to you easily.

Also, I suggest you rather chant something like "I will become lucid/aware when I am dreaming" and not that you will "wake up while dreaming". That's just cause your mind might take it literally and cause you to wake up...
      If I hadn't made me
I'd be more inclined to bow
Powers that be would have swallowed me up
But that's more than I can allow...

Hey Subz0r... haven't had the chance to welcome you
      So.. Welcome

The reason for such warm reception is that we recently decided to give extra warm welcomes and helping hands to the new ones
I dont believe there was ever anything wrong previously, but anything that'll help anyone new to the forum can't be a bad thing!

In that vein - keep an eye out for 'Dream Guides' (like me), with the green coloured posts. We're here to help out where we can

I found a similar problem in the beginning...
Even if your dream journal has things like 'I don't know what i was thinking .... Dunno how I got there .... This was wierd, but it became 'x' instead of 'y' somehow....'

That's okay ... the important part is that you are trying to prod your mind for the dream. The recall will get better in time

As an extra tip.. dont know if anyone has mentioned this yet.. something that helps me is to lie in the same position when you wake up for a little while, and go over the dream as best as you can.
Only after you're got a decent amount of the dream in your head, get up and write it down. That further encourages your memory to remember the little details you didnt think about.

Good luck and remember if you have any questions, don't hesitate...
