      Hey, first time here

Hey guys. I'm Sarah, and I've been reading quite a few posts on these forums for a few days now, and decided to join up.

I don't have much experience with lucid dreaming, and only one LD under my belt to date. I'd like to describe it, and how it came to happen because I was hoping some of you might be able to give some good advice about how I can have LD's more regularly, and how to get there successfully.

It was years ago, and I still remember the details of the dream like it was yesterday. For a few days before the night I finally had the LD, I would tell myself to remember that I was dreaming while in the dream...to the point where it would hurt my head from all the concentration. I don't know how or when I decided telling myself that might work, but it finally did, and I felt like it was a pretty big accomplishment. I dreamt I was along a river somewhere in a tropical-ish place, and was being chased by an alligator. I realised I was dreaming, knew I could do pretty much anything I wanted to do, and ran on top of the water at a ridiculously fast pace to get away. I think I got a little too excited, because shortly after I woke up

Since reading some of the posts on these boards, I have tried to induce a LD a few times, and I find concentrating on remembering to remember I'm dreaming while I'm dreaming is more distracting than anything, and it takes me forever to get to bed. I've read that good dream recall is important, and I've almost always remembered my dreams in detail, for quite some time after having them, and without having written them down (but have started to write them down recently, because they've been some really nice ones ).

I guess the point of this probably way too long post, is to ask for advice on what would be an effective method of inducing a lucid dream for me. Concentrating on anything before bed just does not work out for me, especially the counting, or chanting to myself what I'd like to dream about. Then again, maybe I haven't spent enough time trying! Anywho, any responses would be really appreciated and I hope to hear from someone soon

      Hey Sarah! Welcome to Dreamviews!

Having a naturally good Dream Recall is a perfect start. You're already one step ahead of the game!

If you haven't already you may want to start a dream journal. Even though you have great recall already, every little bit helps!

Be sure to check out the
Tutorials Forum. Its a great resource to help get yourself into Lucid Dreaming.
If you have any questions be sure to ask around or drop a PM!

      Good luck, and Happy Dreaming!

Sounds like an interesting dream -- i like how you had that much dream control in your first and only LD!

Smilies are cool in manageable quantities.

Hi Sarah and a big Welcome from the old man on the block.

It is an unbelievably fantastic experience having a LD and being able to control it so I can understand your anxiety at wanting to repeat it.
Advice, Keep a dream journal, do regular reality checks and hede the good advise that you will get on this site.
From my experience, I believe that the best opportunity to achieving a LD is during a afternoon snooze when you are in a REM sleep.

Good luck, best wishes and again, Welcome.
