      Newbie Questions

Hey everyone, i'm new here. I had what i now realize was a lucid dream ( or just a very vivid normal dream)while taking a muscle relaxant for an injury a few years ago-needless to say, it was perhaps the most interesting thing i have ever experienced, and i'm very happy to have stumbled upon this website.

      Here are my newb questions:

      1. I hardly ever remember my dreams...maybe once every 3 weeks or so Could anyone give me a sense of how long it takes to be able to achieve lucidity from my low level? I'm sure it varies from person to person, but an estimate from a pro would still be nice.

      2. How detailed are lucid dreams? Does being in a lucid dream feel the same as normal reality (with the added bonus of superpowers)? Can you turn your head/look at objects aroudn you and see detail?

      3. Any tips you'd like to give a newb?

Thanks for your responses! I'm very interested in achieving LD...hopefully i'll be a regular member of this site!

First of all, Welcome to DV!

      Second of all

Question 1 - Took me around 3 weeks from remembering no dreams

Question 2 - Lucids are as real as life, you have every sense
the graphics(lol) are exactly like real life
      you can taste,smell,see,hear,touch etc.

Question 3 - My advice, never give up when it seems like its impossible.
dont try to hard, and just read and learn as much as you can from this forum.

Hello Vivi89 and a BIG WELCOME.
I will add to the sound advice already given.
Start a dream journal and fill it in religiously with as much detail as you can, even if its 2am in the morning. This will improve your dream recall. Combine this with doing regular reality checks all the time and you will eventually do one during a dream and become Lucid AGAIN. Once you have formed these two tasks into habits you will be able to work on dream control.

You have already been lucid and know what an incredible experience it is. Now you need to learn the skills required to initiate and maintain an LD and enter the infinite world of your mind.

Have fun and enjoy. Good luck and again, Welcome.

Wow. SO as i said earlier, I hardly EVER remember my dreams. Last nite however, i told myself before going to bed to remember them. Lo and behold, i remember 2 dreams, about as many as i normally remember in a few months! The subconcious brain is an incredible thing...

Yes and he same thing happens with lucid dreams, tell yourself to have one before bed and then you have a good shot at getting one. I remember reading about some technique and something about when you wake up in the middle of the night to just quickly tell yourself you want to have an LD. I was pretty skeptical about how well this would actually work but then one night I woke up in the middle of the night and told myself I wanted an LD and BAM my dry spell ended. BTW welcome to DreamViews
