      Question about RCs...

Hey there guys, the reason to practice RCs is to get your mind to "unconciously" do the same thing (the verification) while you are dreaming correct? Is the response to the verification is ALSO done by your subconcious mind or do you respond lucidly already?

Example to clarify: i keep doing the "pinch the nose" technique while awake...
then suppose i got to sleep and start dreaming ... my mind unconciously pinches my nose as well while in the dream state.... (suppose im am completly "not-lucid" at this point and have absolutely no control over my actions and thoughts) ... my subconcius mind is the one that will say "hey, your breathing while pinching your nose ..." and only THEN will i become lucid right? So its a process i actually have no control at all before becoming lucid ?

      Hope i got thought clearly

      Thanks in advanced..

You have the right idea, but I don't agree with the notion that you have no control while in the dream state. I prefer looking at that as being unaware you are dreaming.

It is all about developing an awareness. Are you awake right now? How do you know? The more aware you become of your 'awake-ness,' the more chance you will have of recognizing when you are dreaming. Reality Checks are a great tool in developing that awareness and constantly questioning your state.

I hope this helps and doesn't just make it more muddled for you!

I usually have done RC's after I start to think I'm dreaming, to prove that it is a dream. I don't think I've ever done one before that first flash of lucidity.

It's like--see a weird thing, start to wonder if it's a dream, then do an RC to prove it. Recognizing dream signs is really the key.

I started RCs on regular basis 4 weeks ago and tonight had first LD. And know what? I even not performed RC - I just become aware that I'm dreaming!
      Started on 01/11/2007
      LD total: 15
      - DILD: 15

      Current task:
      - To fly and teleport freely, and stay lucid longer
