      A newbie. This place rocks!

I'm new here. My name is Aaron, I'm 15 and I'm from Ireland. Well, in the last year or so I've been HIGHLY interested in LD'ing!

I have one problem though - Motivation. It seems no matter how interested I am, I cannot put my effort in trying an LD, for some unknown reason. Something is holding me back!!

I'll try to overcome the imaginative wall on front of me at the moment

I dream, or rather, remember dreams regularly. I'm going to keep a dream diary, to help it though.

Anyway, I'll get back to this post soon

      Thanks

Ps. What are some great methods of attaining Lucidity?
(I know there are tutorials, I just want to know which one is most effective)

Ireland??? Ahehehe. I studied abroad at Trinity. Or should I say.. *holds up nose in the air* Tri-ne-tay...

WBTB + MILD seems to work very well for a good majority. I personally don't like WBTB + anything because I'd rather sleep straight through the night, so I go to bed expecting to LD.

Maybe pick up LaBerge's book for some light reading before bed each night. That will help to keep the thought of LDs in your head as you fall asleep.

      Oh and to DV!

That's true. By staying on this forum, you'll saturate your mind with lucid dreaming, and are bound to have one! You should work on your recall though.

The most common technique is probably DILD -- you just dream and then realize you're dreaming. WILD is the hardest.

And as for motivation, it really doesn't take a lot -- i mean, dreaming happens when you're SLEEPING, and you sleep every night! Just say to yourself, "i will have a lucid dream," and "i will remember my dreams."

      Welcome!

That's really one of the most powerful tools you'll possess. Keeping your mind engaged in the idea of recognising a dream for what it is is the best foundation and motivation you'll get, at least at first. Once you've had your first lucid dream you'll discover a whole new level of motivation.

Also, working on your dream recall is very useful, partly because it engages your waking mind in the realm of dreams. But also because it's always more profitable and rewarding to remember your LDs in as great a detail as possible so you can enjoy them later. It may sound odd to be told that you can enjoy a dream later, after the fact. But you really can and will.

Welcome and may you have much success.

(I know there are tutorials, I just want to know which one is most effective)

To awnser your PS> They are differnt for everyone. Some will work differntly for each person. For me, the WILD is hard, because I get too focused and don't relax enough to go to sleep. I'm a little too imatiant for the DILD, but that seems like my best bet.

Remember that your daily habbits will reflect in your dreams. So remember to Reality Check ALL THE TIME. Whenever you see somthing technological, whenever somthing seems odd, or whenever somthing doesn't work right. All the time. And eventualy you'll do it in your sleep. And you'll sudenly realize you're dreaming and gain your first grip on LDing.

Modavation, me too! That seems to be my biggest problem too. I have a hard time keeping focused. But it's somthing that I am working on. It's all a matter of getting into a regular routine.

The dream journal is good, really good. The more you fill it out the more you will remember your dreams, the more detail will be in your dreams, and the more realisitic. Mostly, the remembering is the most important. You see, because you could have a LD all the time, but you don't remember it so it might as well have not happend.

Dude, send me an Email, [email protected], it seems we're in the same boat here in a lot of ways. By the way I'm 17 and Live in Oregon (US).

The imagintive wall is an easy step, just count. Some people tell you to focus on a chockboard, and write the number on it with vivid white chock. That didn't work for me. But focus on breathing, and counting your breaths. Don't count to high though. Just up to like 20-25, then start over. And eventualy you'll drift out of the random swirling colors. This is, for me, about the time that Sleep Peralisis (SP) kicks in.

      WELCOME BOOGIE!

      Welcome to the forum

Well you need motivation firstly Just try!

Also it's recommended that you do a WBTB and then mix it with a MILD. It's the easiest thing for a newbie.

I'm thinking of trying a DILD

I've got my dream journal, and am doing reality checks.

hey there, im fairly new to LDs as well (technically speaking, cause i've beeing reading on it for about 1 year now [ not constantly though] ). I belive one of the easiest techniques to assemble is the Realitly Checks. I just keep doing them every time i remember. All day long, im just waiting for my mind to get use to it, and im sure it will also do the check some time in my sleep.

      Cheers
