Lots of questions from a first-post newbie - any help greatfully received

      Hi all!

Long list sorry, but im very interested..
      1. Is it dangerous?
      2. Does it stop you *properly* sleeping (eg. are you tired after)?
      3. When i was young used to imagine a light switch, white with cream background that I used to 'flick' (i never saw my hand..) to take myself out of a dream - was this a lucid dream (or close)?
      4. I used to remember every detail of my dreams but now i rarely do... could i get but that remembrance easily?
      5. I see black in between my dreams. All the time - I thought this was normal until earlier when i was talking to a friend about dreams, so he told me to google lucid dreams (which is why im here ).

      thanks in advanced.
      Sam

      1) No, nothing in dreams can hurt you and...
      2) it is nothing out of the ordinary as far as sleep cycles go
      3) If you knew that it was a dream then you were lucid dreaming
      4) Start a dream journal. Lay in bed after you wake up with your eyes closed and parts of your dreams will come back. From those parts you should be able to piece it back together
      5) You've probably woken up and kept your eyes closed due to paralysis. It's not normal, but not abnormal either.

wow! Thanks! It seems i used to have them all the time without noticing then... I wonder if i can still do it now?

I used to do it to stop nightmares and it was very easy, will try it tonight and report back...

Thanks very much for all the quick answers.

Anyone can lucid dream - maybe not as readily or frequently as they used to, but they can do it!
Welcome to the forum and feel free to ask if you have any other questions!

      thx for all the responses!

Not so good last night lol, i set my alarm to wake me up at 2.45am, in the 90m cycle, but when i wake up, i forgot what i was supposed to be doing and went back to sleep with my dream diary still blank .

I'm gonna try a WILD tonight, any tips anyone?

Yeah, I have a tip; don't expect anything to happen overnight! It took me a long long time before I finally got my first lucid dream (but it was definitely worth the dedication!). Keeping a dream journal and doing tons of reality checks are the best two things you can do.

      ok thanks

The WILD didnt go well (as you anticipated) *but* ... I did manage to write a 14 sides of A6 paper dream journal entry about brownies lol.

But anyway, thanks for the help, will do reality checks all day (and all night hopefully lol), im gonna concentrate on my DJ for awhile.

      DILD(s) = 3

Third one was really short and unstable

Sounds like you are on the right track -- consentrating on dream recall and a DJ first! That way if you do happen to have a LD you will realize it.

      Good luck!
