Thread: GOOD Reality Checks....?

so iam new to this whole thing....and dont know shit if it came out of my ass.
but i heard its important to do two things..to help lucid. one is dream journals,and i have been doin that. and the other is reality checks....and i aint quite sure on what or how to do.

also..could someone explain all these abreviations..like WILD and all those?

Reality Checks are things used too check if you are in a Dream world or Reality , One of my favourites has been the Nose Pinch RC ( reality check ) all the have too do it pinch your nose as it you were going underwater and try and brethe through your nose if you can brethe through your nose your dreaming and if not your in reality

right on. alright. so i guess i already knew a littlebit. i did the light switch one earlier today.which actually brings up a question...
so i tried turnin on the light next to my bed...it didnt work,then i tried my main light to my room,it didnt work..so i went into the hallway light...and it did turn on...but it was almost as the switch was already halfway up...i didnt feel as if i turned on the light..
has anything like that ever happen to anybody?

Reality checks are really really easy to do, but they need to be taken seriously.
When I first started to do reality checks, I only did them whenever something scared me. Then I started doing them as much as possible. It's been a few months, and reality checks are a part of my every day routine now. lol. It sounds really silly, but I had my first lucid dream on November 28th. It was soo awesome and I owe it all to my reality checks (it was a reality check in the dream that made it lucid!).

When you do a reality check, don't just rush through it just to say you did one. Actually take time and think about it. If you don't take them seriously enough, you might actually end up doing a reality check in a dream, but still think it's real life!

right on. i defintly know that feeling of bein freaked...i think thats why i did the light switch. but every time i do go lucid..and it has been to often..i tend to feal a little freaked..and i wake. that happen often to some?

YES!!! That happened to me on my first lucid dream!! I was trying for MONTHS to have one.. and finally I had one, and I got really scared, mainly because the dream took place in a creepy dark place. But anyway, I was freaked out and I just decided to tell myself to wake up. lol.

no offense, but plz change ur avatar... its getting annoying. anyway, ive never had a lucid dream, but if u get in the habit of RC's you might do them in dreams.

Hi, about reality checks...it's not just about how good the checks are but how well can U execute it in the dream without using reasoning.....because when Ur in a dream there is no reasoning involved to prompt U to RC. Dreamsigns are one way to do RCs without reasoning...U see it and U do an RC. The only thing that works in dreams is programmed response.

right on..so basically your LD is based on what info ya fill your head with about LD's

Basically yes...but U gotta be specific about it. Like what is the reason U want to LD...where U want to have the LD. Lucid dreaming is just an idea...U give it a physical form by associating items or places where U want to be lucid. A specific place, a specific reason and a specific way of programming the RC...eg..something happens...a light blows...do an RC. Basically the initial process/environment for U to do an RC has to be constant and specific and once Ur lucid U have control to change whatever U want....hopefully.
