Welcome out of the lurking corner.

Have you ever tried using reality checks? This is a lot more effective than just "talk" yourself into LDing, especially for a beginner. Read that tut, pick out a few reality checks from the list (1, 3, and 11 are my favs ), and do them at least 20 times a day.

Hey, remember that it takes a variable amount of time to learn to LD. Some people pick it up right away, and for others it takes time. It took me about a month too, don't worry. Just keep working at it, be patient, and don't let yourself become frustrated.

      Good luck!

I've only been doing it for it for three days and had one LD so my advice might not be that great. But DO REALITY CHECKS, and keep a dream journal. I use a combination of WBTB, DILD, and in a way WILD. I do the normal WBTB stuff, but I take half an hour to an hour and a half to fall asleep and I repeat different ideas and think about my dream the entire time to get myself to LD. It has worked.

Don't worry, the time you give up and never wanna hear the words "lucid dreaming" again will probably be the time you have your first one. Keep experimenting with different ways to see what works for you. If you can't remember your dreams when you wake up then just lay there and remember any feelings or impressions that you get that might help you think of your dreams. The good thing about LDs is that they are unpredictable and will come at the most unlikely time.

Howdy, and welcome to the forums. Here's my advice:

      1. Stop. Stop everything, take a deep breath. Do not try to LD at all. For the next two weeks, concentrate solely on writing in your Journal and remembering your dreams.

      2. Buy a copy of "Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming" by Stephen LaBerge. Read it from cover to cover, it'll change everything. (There's a free version available here.)

      3. Once you can remember consistently, begin introducing Reality Checks into your daily routine. You'll likely begin getting closer to your goal of Lucidity.

      4. When you really, really think you're ready, try MILD, using LaBerge's method or the tutorials on this site.

After you really get everything going, it's up to you. Explore the possibilities of WILD and VILD, do whatever you want. The most important thing, though, is to have a solid foundation of recall.

      Happy dreaming.
