      Just introducing myself

Hello guys. I just heard about lucid dreaming, ran a google search and found you guys! I looked around and it seems like a pretty friendly community so I registered and here I am now. I heard about lucid dreaming when someone overheard me talking about a dream that I had, and they started telling me about lucid dreams!

      My dream:
On Saturday I had a meeting for work at 8 a.m. after the meeting I went home and fell back asleep (around 9 a.m.) I immediately fell into a dream. In the dream I was driving around in my car for a while and I think I was trying to get home. I was having a ridiculously hard time driving. I kept feeling like my breaks wouldn't work and I kept missing turns running lights and cutting people off, but none of it was on purpose, I was just having a seriously tough time driving! Anyways, there was a garbage truck behind me, and I was going to take a left turn. As I came up to the light it turned yellow and I couldn't make up my mind whether I should go through it or stop. I decided to stop at the last second and slammed on the breaks and swerved a little bit to cut off more speed. I ended up in between the "turn left" lane and the "go straight" lane. My left blinker was on but the garbage truck was too close behind me to see that it was on, they assumed I would go straight. When the light turned again the truck and I both started turning left, I realized he didn't see me so I decided to gun the engine and get in front of him so I wouldn't be run off the road. He honked at me (as he rightfully should have, the entire dream I knew that I was driving like a maniac but no matter how hard I tried I wasn't able to drive better) There was an overpass right in front of us and right as I was about to go through it the entire thing fell. Once again I was having trouble driving and I ended up swerving and slamming on the breaks, narrowly dodging a falling beam. I got out of my car and fell down and realized that the garbage truck was still coming from behind me. I rolled out of the way of the truck and narrowly dodged that too. And then an officer came and asked what happened and the truck driver told him about how I was a terrible driver. I apologized and felt horrible and at that point I woke up.

I hardly ever remember my dreams so it was pretty exciting for me. and I still remember it VIVIDLY. But as I told my friend my dream someone overheard me and told me all about lucid dreaming. I realized that I unknowingly used a technique to fall into a good dream! I am already planning on keeping a dream diary and I'm going to try setting my alarm for several times during the night, so that I awake during REM cycles. I don't go to school and I live at home right now so I have plenty of time! I do have a job though. Anyways. I look forward to meeting you guys and falling asleep tonight. Sorry for the length of the post!

edit: I think one of my dream signs might be having trouble driving, because I consider myself a pretty safe driver, well... at least when it comes to my age group! I also felt like... not necessarily deja vu but I felt like I had had similar dreams before, or similar dreams where I was having trouble driving. It felt pretty familiar to me. Does anyone else have the dream sign of having trouble braking, and making decisions while driving, like where to turn or whether or not to go through a yellow light?

Yes. Car problems like that is somewhat common. Especially the braking problem and missing turns. I only wish I could learn to recognise it more often. In all of my lucid dreams so far (90-110 range), I've had only about two that were triggered because of car failures or other car anomalies. Even weird road conditions - like massive gaping holes - are somewhat common. Yet, I never seem to catch it while I'm still dreaming. Perhaps tonight will prove otherwise.

But don't let me discourage you. Remember that that kind of thing is dream-like in nature and you'll have a pretty good chance of recognising it when it happens. The dream signs you most focus on tend to be the ones you become the most aware of. So it can definitely be a very good one for you. And while you're at it, keep looking for other things you can use as dream signs. The more the better.

I'm glad you took an interest in lucid dreaming. You'll find it an amazing subject and even more amazing to participate in first hand. Welcome aboard.

Does getting lost count? LOL! One of my dream signs is that I'm often lost in my dreams.

Maybe you could tell that person about Dream Views so he/she can become a member?
