      very new..and lost!

ok, so i dont exactly remember how i got here, but im glad i found this site. Like hundreds of people, i've realized that i'm not going MAD. EVERY SINGLE NIGHT this week i've had some sort of astro projection experience or some sort of sleep paralysis. it's nuts! i dont know how the hell to control it, or what it means. i did some research and i found out that the brain is awake while your body is still asleep, stuff like that. still not too convinced that i know what the hell all this means. my mom said she had the same problems as me, so this disorder or whatever IS hereditary . is there anyone that can help me know the jist of things, coz i have no clue what to do. i dunno where to start........

Hiya subysuby, Welcome to Dream Views!!!! So glad to have you here.

I would first like to say that what you are experiencing is not a disorder but a gift. You are in the right place to learn. I am not an expert on astral projection. Tell us what you are feeling and how you perceive your surroundings when it happens? My piece of advice... small as it is, Is to relax. Flow with the experience, don't be afraid and see where it takes you

I know there are a few people here that know more about it and would love to help... but if there is anything else i can do please let me know. I hope you make yourself comfortable in our little community!!!

      Welcome to DV subysuby!!!!!!!

Don't worry girl, you're not alone. Many people go through sleep paralysis, either a little or a lot. Sounds like you do alot. So I found a few posts here at DV, so you can see other members' experiences or comments on it:

Talks about sleep paralysis in general: http://www.dreamviews.com/forum/viewtopic....light=paralysis
Discusses waking from sleep paralysis: http://www.dreamviews.com/forum/viewtopic....light=paralysis
      Interesting: http://www.dreamviews.com/forum/viewtopic....light=paralysis

I have only limited experiences with sleep paralysis, but I'm sure there are others here, esp from those posts above, that can share similar experiences as you and could offer you advice. In the meantime, if you have any questions you can email or PM me.

Glad to have you with us!!!!

      Thanks Alaurast78 and OpheliaBlue!

OpheliaBlue, those links helped a lot. spanks

my experiences were kinda extreme too. i felt or knew when i was actually going to have a sleep paralysis, i could feel this strange vibe with me alllllll day until i fall asleep, and then BAM, my body would freeze and the control of my functions are all gone. no speaking, no moving, no nothing. i remember i fell asleep with the TV on. i was watchin MTV when i fell into a deep sleep. i woke up, and i couldnt move, but the strange part was, i could still hear the TV as if i were watching it. i yelled, kicked, and tried to move. NOTHING. so, i remember my boyfriend telling me to relax whenever i'm in sleep paralysis, so i laid back, and let it have control over my body.

i saw my arms flost, and my body, i was fighting my own body. i heard a loud buzzing sound, u know when its really quite and your ears start to buzz? well its was like that cept mulitply that by 1000! so damn loud.

i got freaked out, and i tried to move, but i couldn't. then i moved my toes, and slowly my legs, my arms, and my shoulders were able to move.
      (phew!)

i know that many people have sleep paralysis, i just have them almost EVERYDAY! sometimes twice a day.

      Suby,

I'm a newbie, but it sounds like you are totally freaked out by what's going on. Have you looked into sleep clinics in your area? That coupled with chatting with some of the more experienced persons (like Dream Catcher - he just finished his doctorat in Cognitive Psychology - Dreams). He may be able to help, though he is pretty new to this site.

Courage ma fille (translation - have no fear girl!) I think everything will be okay. Read anything on the topic you can get your hands on and talk to lots of people. K!

No worries! I think what you are talking about is astral projection, let me know what you find out. I think I use to do that when I was a really young kid (ie. under 10).

      Welcome welcome!!!

I can't be of much help in your case, but I can say this: it sounds like you have a natural ability in that area, something that some other people need to work hard to achieve! I think once you find the right people on here and once you get the right advice, you'll be able to embrace this "gift" of your's and have a LOT of fun with it!!! I'm very excited for you.

      Hi and welcome subysuby!

Your SP and OBEs sound similar to mine. I have three or more episodes of SP per week and although I have been like this for years it still terrifies me. This forum really helps as you do realise that you're not nuts or alone!!

      Welcome to the boards Suby!!!!

As you will learn throughout your stay, many of the things that you might have considered abnormal are anything but. Open your mind to new possibilities, and you should be able to make the best out of your gift...
      If I hadn't made me
I'd be more inclined to bow
Powers that be would have swallowed me up
But that's more than I can allow...
