Its pretty amazing, but I don't think you can be addicted to it. If anything you get bored lol.

Well in my experience, I am struggling to get motivated to actively lucid dream, I am happy for the natural DILDs to come along. I think people are different though, depending on their aspirations and goals when it comes to lucid dreaming.

Lucid dreaming is AMAZING and I wouldn't say it's addictive. We all want to escape reality and if you're one of the people who can you're lucky enough; many people have never even heard of lucid dreaming. The only thing that is bad is that you're going to have to put a lot of effort into it and although I started having regular LDs in 2 weeks, perfecting a method can take years. Alternitavely you can look at LD websites all night until your head feels numb and there's a good chance you'll have one when you go to sleep .

Don't listen to the people that are telling it's only amazing for a short period of time. Because they probably only had a few LD's that lasted maybe at most a minute and a half. But to truly be amazed is when you take control and start using things, changing things, travel in seconds, and anything supernatural, that is when it it really gets amazing my friend. But like Adam said you could get bored with it for awhile and lose the intrest in Lucid Dreaming. I did for awhile then I just started again like 1 week ago lol.

These are just subjective views - You can't say why someone feels they are only amazing, some people for all you know; could be lucid masters, having achieved completely vivid and life like lucid dreams spanning many years.

I certainly feel from my personal point of view that the spark which was there in the early days does dwindle. I don't have the same excitement and appetite as I did in the early days. I don't wake up with the same amazement and excitement as I did when learning 15 odd years ago.

Being this question is aimed at experienced people, I would assume the question is over time?

Personally, I'm used to lucid dreaming, and most of my lucid dreams aren't "amazing." But some are, and they can last for a while. The awesome ones are the ones that are the most vivid and easy to manipulate.

I've never heard of anyone being addicted to lucid dreaming.

People who have practiced with Lucid Dreaming long enough wouldn't make comments like the one below are not experienced if they've only enjoyed if for 5-8 seconds. But that is also why I said experianced people like you would get bored with it after awhile so no one would comment saying I can't put words into someones opinion because i've been LD'ing long enough to know someone experianced and un-experianced.

There is no word to describe how awesome it is, and it can become pretty addicting.

I honestly don't see how you can become bored of it.

Lucid dreams are amazing and definitely worth getting into!!!

I don't see how it can get boring at all. At least for me, I have way too many ideas and adventures that I can think of going on to get bored. And if I can't think of anything, I could always just write some music or just go explore and an adventure would come along.

They say that it can be addicting, but I think there's a limit on REM, so it's not like you'd just be sleeping all day.

If anything what it would do is steady out your sleep schedule and get you more sleep if you are like I was and some days go with only 3 to 5 hours of sleep. So it's actually healthy.

It can help you to know yourself better, and help you to gain insight into waking life things. So you can apply things that happen in lucid dreams (sometimes) to waking life.

      And it's so fun!

And you say you have been doing it long enuff to know if someone is unexperienced or not?
dont me me laugh, you dont even know me

Sounds to me like you have a problem with people having options of there own
well guess what, i do have one and im gonna say what i want.

just because im knocking it doesn't meen what i have to say is a fact for everyone
but all my friends who lucid dream have grown tired of it because its not even worth it

I usually lose my interest in lucid dreaming only because I get frustrated when I never have them! I had my first lucid dream the other night almost randomly, and it sparked my interest all over again. If I could actually have lucid dreams on a regular basis, I wouldn't ever get bored of them. LMAO

There is a difference between getting tired of it and only enjoying 5-8 seconds. I stated MY opinion on how I thought about it and YES I do not like some peoples opinion on certain things but I respect that is what they think and i'll say I disagree with them if I want. I'm sorry we took each other the wrong way but what doesn't make sence to me is why you have practiced it for years and had so many if you didn't even enjoy it or thought it was worth it...

Well, around 50-60 i stopped trying because it had became boring.
my first 15 where only around a min or 2 long

and i cant just stop having lucids ether, they come naturally.
ill admit though i have a personal thing ageist lucid dreaming
out of all the lucids iv had i couldn't control anything so basically it was just like real life with no powers or anything

dont get me wrong , i tried and tried with no success so i came to hate it lol
and what really pissed me off was when id get the 1 min lucids
which happens alot so i came to the conclusion lucids arnt worth trying for

It's amazing but you can get bored sometimes.

Just keep yourself motivated, and it's great everytime.

      ask yourself this:

If lucid dreaming is not "all it's cracked up to be" why does this forum exist? Why do we give up hours of sleep. Why do we send ourselves to bed early when we know theres a good chance we might not become lucid?

      It's damn awesome, that's why!

My thoughts exactly. Will someone please explain to me how lucid dreaming becomes boring??? It's not like you can say you run out of things to do, considering the list is endless.

It makes me want to sleep more. That's a good thing since before I started lucid dreaming regularly I only got like 4 or 5 hours a night.

How good it is depends on the dream. They do tend to be fun...unless they're nightmares where you're lucid for a mere three seconds, or however long it takes to get out of a pickle.

Addiction? It's not like heroin...you'll want to have more, but I, for one, don't particularly want to sleep all day. I may sleep an extra hour or two, though, if I want a lucid and am frustrated with not having had one.
-LD Count since rejoining in Dec. 2009: 21

No dream goals at the moment...just flying and letting stuff happen is kinda fun, and it's hard to motivate myself to try LDing lately.

Depending on how much awareness, control and vividness within the lucid dream, a lucid dream in a way is exactly like waking life. Though, I think a lucid dream is a amazing no matter on your amount of control. The only way I can see Lucid dreaming as an addiction is if that person isn't happy with their waking life and choose to live more so in their own reality ( their LD) then in reality. So the addiction would come in with the constantly sleeping trying to have a lucid dream so they can just stay there.

Being completely free to choose my own working hours, they are extremely sporadic, one day Im up 24 hours, getting 2-3 hours sleep, next time I sleep for 12 hours. That cant be good. After starting a dream journal, Im sleeping for about 6-8 hours each nights, feels great. I actually have a normal rythm. oO
