      Trouble & Questions

      Hello again!

Why isn't my dream recall getting better? I now have 20 dreams in my dream journal (a few of them are only one sentence, though), but I still have trouble remembering dreams. Is it my own fault? I know moving is the wrong thing to do when you wake up, and I know I do it a lot...

And even worse, sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night but fall asleep while trying to remember my dream.
And once I read my dream journal and saw that some nights ago, I had written "going" and nothing else! Must have fallen asleep while writing...

I haven't had my second lucid dream either, but I'm starting to think I know a few good dream signs.

And last night when I was trying to sleep my left hand felt really weird... Almost like something was pulling "energy" from it. Or like pulling at least something out of the hand. Of course I did a reality check, I was not dreaming. So I moved the hand, and it stopped, but when I started relaxing again the same thing happened and it was annoying. What was it?

Moving can be a part of the problem, but there could be other things too. Are you keeping your dream journal consistant and detailed? Or are you under alot of stress? both of these can damage your recall.

good for you knowing your dream signs is a good step.

How many dreams were you remembering before you started a journal and how many are you remembering now?

Thanks anyway, freefire. I write as much details as I can remember and I'm under no stress at all (winter vacation).

Blargh I see your point, but when I read the forums I read about people who can remember 3+ dreams per night. Before I started, I almost never remembered my dreams. Now I sometimes remember my dreams. The best I've got has been 2 dreams in one night, and I often forget all my dreams...

I have had a similar experience Ham or Turkey, but with my right foot... I felt as if something was pulling on it, almost like taking a sock off, but I moved it and it went away for good... Thats very weird, I wonder if others have had the same experience...

Well personally before I started my dream journal I might remember small parts of one per week, but after I started I saw improvement pretty quickly. I writing a paragraph or two after a week, and now after exactly a month I can remember about 3 dreams, probably 1 or 2 in good detail and the rest just a few things.

I don't know how long you've been doing your dream journal, but keep at it. It helps when you wake up to try to lay still and think about what you dreamt about, backtracking from what you remember is especcially helpful. Also have a notepad or something next to your bed and write down keywords so when you get up to do your dream journal you can jog your memory. It's all practise and more practise but it doesn't take up much time at all to do so it can't hurt to keep at it
