      Problem?

Ok, I just started coming here today. Go me.

Anyway, my problem w/lucid dreams is, once I realize I'm dreaming, I go into a state of paralysis, panic, and wake up.

Does anyone know why this always happens?

Does anyone know what I can do to become lucid and maybe get past this paralysis thing?

      Thanks

      Hey, welcome to dream views!!

Um well I think you just have to get more used to "waking up" in dreams. Next time, try to focus on relaxing and staying calm. Maybe a little self-hypnosis before bed would help to reinforce that idea.

      Hey sorewahimitsudesu, welcome!

It's common to become panic and wake up after obtaining lucid (it happens to me too ) But it's happening to me less now because I've learned to calm myself and focus on my environment. I also hear that spining in a circle to change the dream scene helps as well.

what the? you mean to say that your dream body becomes paralyzed, you panic and then wake up? and this happens EVERYTIME you've become lucid? when you become lucid, do you suddenly get excited or run around and doing things that would normally excite you?

well anyway sqwiggle said it. stop, relax, and concentrate. you may need practice to get used to this and stop waking up. try sitting down and meditating in your dream or clear your mind. I've heard that people who become to excited in a dream wake up. this doesnt happen to me, but i heard its common.

      In response to nightowl.

This paralysis thing happens every time i realize I'm dreaming, and even sometimes happens for no reason. Once I died in a dream and it happened. Another time I saw a friend of mine in a dream, and it happened. It usually happens when I notice something weird about the dream and realize that it's not real. I don't think I've ever managed to get past the point of realization that I'm dreaming, before I become paralyzed and can't do anything else.

I'm not sure if it's just my dream body, or my real one as well becoming paralyzed. I feel a buzzing sensation throughout my body and I freak out because I cant move or see.

When this happens, I try to calm myself down, but I always wake up too quickly.

      Welcome the the forum Sorewahimitsudesu!!!!

It is a known fact that humans fear what they do not know. I suggest you read as much as possible about LDing, so when the time comes you'll know that it is perfectly safe...
