      Hello

Hey, I guess I'm a newbie here. I've been lurking quite a bit (guilty as charged) and this looks like a great place.

My interest in lucid dreaming phases in and out, but recently my dreams have been really whacked out and I started reading up on LDs again. I actually have a few questions, thought that might be a good way to introduce myself.

Over the past two months I've remembered at least one dream I've had every night, which is weird because I haven't been working on my dream recall for several years. And then finally last night I did a random reality check while I was dreaming and became completely conscious for the second time. Before that I'd partially lucid countless times.

It's starting to irk me though, every time I become lucid I find that I'm in my kitchen, and for some reason I can't ever seem to leave the house. Last night I tried flying, and despite my best efforts that didn't work either. Any thoughts on what this might mean? I explored the idea that I feel subconsciously trapped in the house, but I doubt that's the issue because I'm out far more than I'm in. Last night I also happened to glance in my bedroom mirror and my reflection was horribly morphed and twisted, which scared me out of lucidity. Bummer.

Anyway, it's nice to be here.

      Hello Snarkey, welcome to Dreamviews!

Mirrors never work right in dreams. They're even used by some people as teleportation tools, because you can usually go right through them. There is even a reality check based on checking your reflection to see if it looks normal.

As for your issues with your house, its the first time I've heard of it. But as with all dream control problems, the way to fix it isn't usually apparent. If you can't leave your house, don't. Try making one of the rooms in your house a holographic room, where you can ask a computer to simulate a certain place for you. I don't know if that will work for you or not, but you should give it a try.

As for links, you might want to read the tutorials if you haven't already. There are a lot of effective techniques to help you become lucid. There's also the quickstart guide if you have any questions about the forum itself.

Feel free to ask if you have any questions, or I was unclear about something.

Thanks for the welcome! I've been reading the tutorials pretty compulsivly. I'm really excited to actually get going, I feel like I'm ready to start working for it. Tonight, I think I'm going to try WILD. Maybe this time I'll be able to find a creative way to leave the house, like the one you suggested.

      Welcome Snarkey,

This is the best place to be to keep your interest in LDing up.

Congrats on the LDs. I agree with webmaster about mirrors in dreams/LDs. Sometimes I just enjoy finding mirrors so I can see myself warp and become all weird and deformed. If your are expecting it, there's nothing scary about it.

In some of my very first LDs, I was also stuck inside and couldn't seem to get out. But it didn't stay a problem in future LDs. So there is a chance that your LDs will just natually take you other places. But if you are stuck in a room again and you have a mirror, you can do what webmaster mentioned and use it to transport. For some reason our minds have an easier time going through mirrors thatn other things. Running and diving through the mirror works better for me than just slowly trying to push through.

      Just a few thoughts.

It's great to hear that you have already been reading the tutorials.

      Good luck....

Thanks! I was actually recently able to leave the house in a semi-lucid dream. Practice practice practice, I guess!

I couldn't leave my house either. The doors were all shut, and when i tried to break a window my dad (I don't know why) used PSI powers to push me away. It was very odd... I solved this problem by actually just passing through the solidness of the house.... don't really know how i did it thoguh,,.. i kinda just believed

Very good! I agree--the more LDs I have, the more chances I have had to practice certain LD "skills" and become better.

      Keep it up!

Well if I may hazard a guess for leaving the house if you still get stuck after you DILD, FILD, MILD or WILD into a dream...

In real life a house isn't impenatrable...kicking it from knock it over unless it is made of cards perhaps try destroying the walls? kicking down the door...unless you look out the window and you are in a portal-space vortex w/ nothing around !!

If not then i can think of several ways to get out of my house...being that i helped design it
      1) Kick open the windows
      2) From my utility room through the brick wall is the garage and the garage door is made of some cheap laminate wood...good bye to that
      3) Go out through my attic...I have a trap door of sorts to get up there
      4) Jump out of window...Assassin's Creed free-fall style
      5) Dig my way into my garden and then go out
      6) Turn my kitten into a King Tiger german SS tank and blow down the door (even tho i think 60 tons will destroy my house)
      7) I have columns b/c its an open floor plan...So I will knock it out and go through the roof as it comes crashing down
      8) Kick off the control panel to the treadmill so it lays down flat and put it at Slope and Speed = 10 and catapult out my living room window
      9) Put on a family vid outside my house and jump into it
      10) Flush myself down the toilet and climb out the stormdrain outside my house
      11) Make myself a puddle of water and melt underneath the door then reconstruct myself...

and if the gate doesn't want to let me out
      1) Drive a roll-royce through it
      2) Have my kitten SS-warp again and shoot it with a Flak-88
      3) Crank Dat Superman over the fence
      4) Eat it...ouch
      5) Dig my way out using my garden and burrow under it (Stronghold: Crusader lol)
      6) Go on my roof and jump through my car's sunroof while there
