Thread: Hmm... is this normal?

It's totally normal, i have it to. I jump up in bed when i trip.

I'm not sure why it happens, maybe someone else can explain that.

But yea, its normal and pretty fun

I were on a summer rehab-camp (no drugs or anything, its medical, kk^^) and i was sharing bed with this girl, and i had this thing all the time, tripping, waking.

the thing: She noticed it too, she could tell that i had spasms during sleep O.o

But what you're describing is called a hypnic jerk.

It happens when you are falling asleep and are awoken by a reflex. It seems to be a way for your mind to check whether you've entered sleep paralysis or not, checking if you're fully asleep yet. But I've heard other explanations too so that's just the first that came to mind.

Hypnotic jerk? Usually caused when you are incredibly tired and exhausted.

I have the feeling of that I will use this forum WAY too much

Just on a different track, I can will these. If I fall asleep thinking of a very specific image (tripping over a door) then a few minutes later I will jerk myself awake in bed. I've also had this when I hit the floor after a long drop sometimes.
