      I think i had a Lucid Dream!

Topic says it all, i think i might have experienced my very first lucid dream!

I'm not quite sure tho, because i can't figure out why i didn't try out more then i did.

If you're interested, this is what happened:

I downloaded a Lucid mp3 thingie, and listened to it while browsing the forums.
Then i listened to them while i fell asleep, and repeating this to myself: "Is this real?"

      The Dream

My dream was a little weird. I was gently pushed into a forest, and the man who pushed me said: "You are lucid dreaming" and disappeared. From there i pinched my nose as a RC, and it worked. I was Lucid Dreaming! (or atleast i think so)

So, as the new experience this was, i had to experiment. Apparently the thing i tried was to see if i could walk trough stuff. Suddenly this bookshelf appeared in front of me, so i tried to walk trough it, but was unsuccessfull.

So, what do you thing, was this a Lucid Dream?

      Thanks
      Thiada

If you think you're having a lucid dream, then you are having a lucid dream. You knew you were dreaming, which makes it a lucid dream. It usually takes practice for a new lucid dreamer to be able to manipulate dreams.

I don't understand... you said you did a reality check and said that you knew you were dreaming, then why do you doubt that you had a lucid dream? You are familiar with the definition of a lucid dream, right? It's possible to have a lucid dream without trying out stuff, or being able to manipulate the dream.

Yeah, but i've been so interested in this stuff and been telli ng myself that when i have a LD, i will try out all kinds of stuff, like flying, fighting, loads of stuff..

But what i did, i made a bookshelf, and tried to walk trough it O.o

I cant have been that lucid? and, if i were in total control of my actions, wouldn't i remember every detail?

This is just so weird ;p

It seems doubtfull you had a lucid dream to me if you can't even make your mind up if you had one or not.

When you have your first lucid dream you should be bouncing off the walls at the pure amazment of it

It's still a dream, and it's possible to forget details. It's also harder to remember things from your waking life in your (lucid) dreams, believe me, I know.

But I suppose nothing I say will make you realise that you had a lucid dream. Sometimes, new experiences don't live quite up to our expectations.

There are different levels of lucidity mate. Sounds like you had a low level one. If you knew you are dreaming, then its a Lucid Dream, doesn't matter what you did/didn't do. It's a Lucid Dream.

A high level lucid dream is where you can stand there and think woooo im awake inside a dream, what shall i do? *does whatever you can think of*

Which is probably what you expected, get me?

Well I've been lucid dreaming quite a bit... If you realise in a dream that you are dreaming, it's a lucid dream. Even if you are semi-lucid (not totally aware, having low self-confidence in your lucidity) it's still a lucid dream.

It sounds like your problem was in controlling the dream. That doesn't affect whether or not you were lucid. I think you may have been semi-lucid - usually if you are then the dream oppresses you (at least that happens to me and I've heard of it a lot) and the bookcase thing sounds lke that.

Yeah, think i got you... what i mean is kind of hard to explain..
I can't remember my thoughts or anything, so why i chose to walk trough a bookcase, i dont know.

Semi-Lucid might be the answer, will just have another go tonight
      Maybe im lucky ^^

      Thanks
