      First Post!

      Hi all,

I'm 20 years old and I've been interested in lucid dreaming for about 2 years. At first, I just read articles online but then I bought "Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming" on eBay and I've learned a lot.

Can't say I've had a lucid dream yet, but my dream recall is what I would call almost-excellent. If I sleep well (which isn't often lately) I can remember 2-3, and I'm pretty sure that's all I'm having because of how the time is working out with the REM periods, ya know. I'm still diligently working on it---it fascinates me to no end. Usually I can sometimes say to myself (while dreaming) "this isn't right!" Or, "I know I'm dreaming!" But I still lack the will power to develop that. . . and that is why I'll say I've learned something already. . . I realize more and more that I don't have as much control over my mind as I'd like.

As you may have noticed, the zazen in my name is no coincidence. I would consider myself a Buddhist in theory, but as I've realized with all religions and even philosophies is that there are none that encompass everything an individual can believe, so putting yourself into one category is doing as much a disservice as a service---though it can be helpfel when meeting someone, such as now!

Religion, philosophy, spirituality, UFOs, politics, psychology, all that stuff interests me.

To solve the problem of control over my mind, I've been considering going completely vegan (and to fix this broken foot that won't heal, amond other things). I've also been having this idea of going 4 weeks on raw fruit juice alone and keeping a journal, just to prove my point, but more importantly, staying like that for a long time. Most of these authors that write books promoting a diet of mainly raw juice have lived over 100 years in great health. In fact, one even lived to be 118! That fascinates me. . .

      So hello

      welcome to dreamviews zaze

Its good you have dream recall down, but do you do reality checks? since you have good dream recall you could try something thats a little different. Wake up at around 5am and take a cold shower. This should increase your chances of having a lucid dream.

I told this to somebody earlier, you may be giving lucid dreaming the illusion of being really difficult when it is in fact easy, or at least easier than you expect. Before you go to bed tonight expect to have a lucid dream, know that you will have one.

Also, I wish my dream recall was as good as yours again.

Thanks everyone, I think I have a pretty good grasp on what to do, just having some difficulty putting it into practice. I usually wake up after every REM and I'm just like, "Man, how did I now know that was a dream?!"

Thanks for the reminder, also, Sugarglider, I need to be more conscientious about doing RC's during the day, and more importantly while dreaming.

Last night I did all the stretches I could remember from HS before I went to bed to try to get in a relaxed physical state easier and it worked, I think.

Off topic, anyone ever tried fresh squeezed carrot juice? Man, this stuff is great!

      Welcome!

Also off topic...you brought up a vegan diet and raw fruit juices etc. I think if you are at all interested to definitley give ti a try. I have had experince with eating a raw vegan diet. I did it a good part of last year and am doing so right now. I decided to do it for health reasons (my sister has cancer and I hated sitting around feeling helpless and waiting to get it myself). It is the most healing diet that I know of. I feel better in so many ways.

And good luck with your dreaming.

Thanks, I know the feeling, my dad was diagnosed with fibromyalgia (sp) in 1998 and was told by 2000 he would be in a wheel chair and probably die in 3-4 years. Well, this past summer he rode his bicycle a total of something like 500 miles... so go figure! I've got all the equipment and know-how at my disposal and I'd really like to live another 100 years, so why not, ya know? I feel a lot better in the week I've been drinking carrot juice (usually with spinach and romaine lettuce), not one new pimple, no back pain in the morning, less pain in my foot, and I haven't needed one single Tums for indegestion.

Now if I could just master this lucid dreaming thing... haha.

During my afternoon nap today, I tried to be mindful of reality checks but I never could do it while dreaming, only when I woke up sporadically could I take a few quick glances at the clock. Once again, woke up and said to myself, "That was crazy, how did I NOT realize it?!"

That's awesome! Good for you. Sounds like you have a good attitude too. And that 's great about you dad. Is he eating a special diet?

I have been lucid dreaming for almost two years now and I still have that happen to me. Sometimes the slightest abnormal thing makes me lucid. Other times the weirdest things can happen and I totally miss it.

So keep trying. You sound like the kind of person that will stick with it and master it.

At first he (my dad) was eating a very strict vegan diet under the care of a pretty famous local health minister named Dr. Malkmus in Shelby, NC and his company or whatever called Halelujah Acres... yea it was a Christian thing also. He ate this powder made from barley grass called BarleyGreen, but now he grows his own barley grass and juices it. I'm going to start helping him with a lot of this stuff so he can keep on it more strictly. He had some skin tumors also recently, but that's because he was eating a lot of cooked and fried food, so he went back to the diet.

Haha, today I was trying to parallel park a car in my dream and it changed between two different kinds of cars while backing up and going forward (I just remembered that...)

Yeah, its cheaper for a reason...

Also, have you been closer to getting lucid? At least your dreams are really crazy, once you get down doing RC when something slightly strange happens in real life you should be able to get lucid.

There are also some other ways to do reality checks, like every time you enter or leave a room.

What if someone changed some of the book? One sure way to get lucid is to take 500mg of arsenic...

They could have made if funnier. Drink one gallon of gasoline and smoke a cigarette would be better.

Haha, I haven't found anything in the book like that... yet.

Sometimes I can't help buying from eBay, bookstores are pretty limited around here. I think if I were to come across a counterfeited page I would realize it anyway.

Yea, I'm getting closer. When I have a bad dream it's no problem to say, "Nope, I'm waking up, NOW." Just the other night I was doing a little free fall thing off a mountain and decided I would land, so I struggled a bit with it but finally landed on solid ground unharmed.
