      dream machines

tried this mp3 thats up on your site - wanted to see if it would help
      http://dreamviews.com/community/showthread.php?t=48481

I listened to it twice it worked on my waking body, a real sense of dropping out of my body for a while , falling, or like something pressing on me, one of those weighty dreams..I felt scared, and really alone, and even with my headphones on, my mind was searching for something to hold onto, and i even became aware of really small sounds outside of my headphones as reassurance.. but still a real sense of falling and my eyes i could sense them moving really really rapidly without my own asisstance.. anyway 20mins of this and i was relieved when i decided to come back out of it.
I really wish the recording was of a higher quality, i feel this is why i couldn't make the total leap, unless that is how it is supposed to sound?

I have a dream machine, its a cut out cardboard cylinder designed by the artist Bryon Gysin in the 50's, used by Ginsberg, William Burroughs Genisis P.Orrige and other notable mind travellers, you put it on a turntable at 45rpm with a light dangling down inside it and look at it close up with your eyes shut. its fantastic, space opens up and rich vivid images come freely, I wonder if i could use this to invoke lucid dreams?

I could also up the design if you want to make one yourself . .?

Hi and welcome to Dream Views.

I'm not sure about the mp3, I've only tried a few briefly.
Had to quit because I couldn't stand the feel of the ear buds in my ears while trying to sleep.

Haven't heard of the dream machine. Sounds interesting though. I might give it a try if I had a turn table, just out of curiosity.

I'm not sure if it would invoke lucid dreams or not. I'd probably have to experience it for myself first.

That being said, I guess this post past Hi and welcome to Dream Views is kind of useless to you. Sorry. Do you practice recalling dreams or lucid dreaming?

      *edit*

Is that a nipple in your avatar or am I seeing things?

Personally I have never used the MP3 stuff, I'm like Vex and are quite paranoid when it comes to sleep with stuff in your ears.

      *fears it will disappear*

Let us know how your results with that goes.

Also you may have to change the avie...

      oops..
Also you may have to change the avie...
My avatar perfectly fits my reality of being awake and simultaneously within sleep, it suggests water, of moon, of beads, of time, of the feminine side of my consiousness..
All said, i am sure i can find something else if i need to... pm me if its a problem

that dream machine thing sounds awesome
Hi S4ndm4n! I will up the design for you to print out this week.
Bryon Gysin developed it after a long journey through rural france, it was summertime and he was a passenger in a car driving along a tree lined road, the lights of the sun flickering through the canopy, with his eyes closed and it was then that he entered a dreamstate consiousness, he experimented for years developing this machine which works on the minds alpha and beta waves through the repetition of light.
