      is this sleep paralysis?

      well a brief background

i never really got into lucid dreaming on purpose, it just came to me after a weird sleep cycle where i would take 4-5 hour naps in the day then wake up for a few hours and then sleep 3 hours or so at night. the majority of the time when i did this i would lucid dream.

so one night i "woke up" but it was really just a dream of me on my couch in the dark
a weird tingly, intense feeling came over me and i could barely move. like when your leg falls asleep except my whole body. i was scared and somehow managed to crawl on the floor and tried to turn on a light but it wouldnt turn on.

eventually i woke up for real, and realized it was a dream. i went back to sleep and the same thing happened except this time i knew it was a dream, and it was kinda uncomfortable so i was trying to wake myself up. i sat up on my couch and started slapping myself in the face and stuff. i woke up again and thought that it was just a weird dream and nothing really happened.

since then its happened a lot of the time when i lucid dream. i dont mind it anymore. notably, last night i went to sleep and suddenly was in the lucid dream state of mind, except everything was black and i couldnt change it. then i remember feeling the tingly sensation but i also remember feeling soreness in my legs (from working out lately) which made me realize that its probably is something real thats happening to me yet only occurs while lucid dreaming.

then it went away and i started floating to the ceiling. i wanted to go outside and fly but i assumed i couldnt, since last time this happened i couldnt. and i was right.

i woke up and it was only ~15 minutes after i went to bed.

i havent really researched it much, but is this basically sleep paralysis?

and, is there anything bad about it?

Sleep paralysis is when you wake up and are unable to move at all, because your muscles are paralysed. This doesn't sound like sleep paralysis since you were asleep, so it was a lucid dream, I'd say.

      Welcome to the forum!

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but it wasn't SP or a lucid it was a false awakening as you woke up in a dream. Also there's nothing wrong with SP it is a normall thing.

      well..

From my experience...sleep paralysis happens when you are in fact lucid and not yet dreaming but you are also aware of your body. Your body is asleep and it's a very strange feeling. Kind of a weird body buzz going on and it's hard to move your body. I have had this experience many times and the first few times, I freaked out. I couldn't wake or move without some serious trying. It was the body buzz that creeped me out but eventually i grew used to the feeling even though it's still not pleasant. You just ride it out and it can potentially turn into a lucid dream. The body buzz as i call it will remain though...if what happens to me happens to you...but the buzz will not be as strong. It definitlely helps keep you lucid from what i've learned.

yeah thats pretty much exactly it

i mean, i dont mind it anymore. i think its kinda cool. but was just wondering what it was because since i also felt my soreness i was sure that it was physical and not just some weird recurring fake thing. (which i previously thought it was)

and i dont see why u wouldnt classify it as lucid, neavo.. i was dreaming and i was fully aware. the only thing was i couldnt control it. it was just all black at first and i remember thinking to myself " oh look im lucid dreaming. hmm but nothing is happening. maybe if i think hard i will able to do something. nope"

then when i was being lifted to the ceiling i thought "oh now htis is happening. i wish i could go outside but last time i wasnt able to, so i guess not"

I didn't see you say you were aware that you were dreaming, all I saw was you say you "woke up in a dream".
