      Lucid Dreaming?

So this is funny. I didn't know other people could do this. I didn't even know that it was called Lucid Dreaming...

Hi I'm Jenny, I'm 19, and I've been Lucid dreaming since I was five. Has anyone else been able to do it that long? It all started with a nightmare, and developed over the years into what it is now. I used to pretend that another being controlled my dreams and I would go to him and ask him to change what was going on. Then I started doing it on my own but my head held me back and things would change all over the place. Now I just control it no problem. Since about the time I started high school, almost every dream I've had has been a lucid dream. I hear that's abnormal. Take this week for instance, I've had a lucid dream 4 out of the last five days that I can remember. Is that weird? I really want to talk to people who can do this, because I've never met another person that could do what I can.

The other day I was talking to my friend about how I love my dreams because I can control them and he looked at me and said, "You're a LUCID DREAMER?" I just looked at him dumbfounded. I had no idea there was a term for it. I just thought I was alone in controlling my dreams. But that's what I do. So someone talk to me. Ha I've always felt cool for doing it, but also a bit freakish because who does this? Anyway. I know it's long, but if anyone wants to talk to me about it I'd appreciate it cause I feel a bit shocked about this whole thing!

      Welcome to Dreamviews!

You're a natural lucid dreamer, which is lucky for you. Very few people have that ability. I'm not one of them, unfortunately, but we have a number of them here at the forum. I don't remember who they are at the moment but I'm sure they'll show themselves at some time.

      Welcome cherrychapstik!

That's neat that you have been LDing so long, and that you figured out how to do it on your own. I didn't even know LDing existed until two years ago, but I have really enjoyed doing it since then.

Glad to have you aboard. I hope you share some of your experieces.

If you have any questions, just ask. See you around....

Hey, Cherrychapstick. Welcome to Dream Views.

I've been lucid dreaming for about as far as I can remember (we'll say five, because I don't remember the exact age) but, like you, I didn't find out the term, or that there were so many other people that could do it, until I was about 20-something.

There are a few of us "naturals" here on-site but even those that are new to it have had some really amazing experiences, so I'm sure you'll be able to connect with a lot of people here.

      Hope you enjoy your stay.

Welcome to the site. as was said, yes, you are a natural lucid dreamer. you should feel lucky, most of us have to actively work at having them.

Since you're a natural, induction techniques probably won't be of much help to you. there are some techniques for lengthening them, though. maybe those would be useful. but at the very least, you'll find ideas for new things to try in lucid dreams, and good conversation.

      easy..

Thanks everyone! I still think this is so awesome and am trying to find out more. And its true, Techniques don't really work with me in trying to start up lucid dreaming. Basically I just have a dream and I know it's a dream on instinct. But I think learning how to do... what was it? The kind of lucid dreaming where you just head straight into the dream you want? I've done it before, but since I didn't know that this was something people could actually regulate, I didn't really think too much about it. Normally I just start having a dream, know I'm dreaming, and then change it to be whatever I want it to be. I need to post more. I want to know about everyone else's experiences and dreams and such. I'll check it out. Thanks again!

You're probably referring to the WILD technique, where you stay conscious during the transition from waking to dreaming.
