      Another New Guy...

Hey everyone, this is my first post on here and I have a few questions. These questions might sound like obvious ones but like I said I'm new, so don't be too harsh, lol... My first question, when your lucid do you have a hard time seeing details? I have bad vision while I'm awake so I'm not sure. Second question, when you're lucid and you lets say go sky diving... How do you know what it feels like to go sky diving if you've never done it before? Would sky diving feel the same in real life??? Last question... You probably know that some people have spent a week (lucid time) in a dream... Let's say you practice playing an instrument that week and improved in the dream, would you get better in real life??? Thanks to anyone who helps me out...

Yeah I know my name is really creative and I'm proud of it...

I'm sorry if these questions were asked before, but I'm very anxious to get an answer...

      Hi and welcome.

About the vision... Sometimes the "graphics" are very blurred (this only happened in my first few LDs), but usually I see everything just as if I was awake. There might be minor differences in lighting, but it is pretty much beautiful.

Well I haven't tried sky diving, but when I fly (usually) I feel the wind. Imagine what it would feel like to hold a sphere in your hand. I think most people can visualize or imagine feeling and seeing the sphere. The same goes for dreams. The human brain is a very powerful computer and can render anything I can think of.

NOTE: You can try and improve the visuals in your dream if they are fuzzy though. I tried it and it worked. I yelled out CLARITY!! in my first LD to do that...the things they thought me when I was a newbie.

I don't know the answer to the last question for sure... but, when you are in sleep paralysis the muscles still respond to your brain, even if they are paralysed. Basically if you dream about runing, the brain will send the order to your muscles. So in theory, if you practice something in a dream you can improve it in waking life. Just don't expect to build muscle mass, since they aren't moving.
The second part of this question is a bit on the "beyond dreaming" side. People say that it's possible to spend hundreds of years in a dream, but scientifically this time dialation hasn't been proven. I believe that you can do it and spend a lot of time in a dream, but I also believe it's just an illusion. So if you practice douring a 10 minute dream, I think that that's all the work you'll actually do. It's an interesting idea though. I don't know how fast and how many orders the brain can send, if it's like 100/sec then perhaps it's possible. Who knows?

      Good luck!

      Welcome to Dreamviews!

You don't have to worry about newbie bashing here, everyone's really nice. Here are some answers:

-details depend on how vivid your dream is. There are techniques to increase vividness within lucid dreams, but it's quite like any other dream in terms of vividness. Another factor in how vivid it is is what technique you are using to become lucid; although I've only ever done DILD (Dream Induced Lucid Dreams)

-if you've never done it before, it feels like you think it should feel. The first time I drank coffee it was in a lucid dream, and it tasted exactly as I thought and wanted it to taste; when I later tried it in real life it was completely different.

-I don't really think that playing an instrument in a dream can help in real life, as you aren't concentrating on it as much. In a dream you could instantly make yourself amazing at the instrument and you wouldn't need practice (or you could make the right sounds with the wrong notes). It's always better to practice things in real life.

For further answers, try looking in the tutorials section; it has tons of helpful stuff. And don't be afraid to ask questions!

      Hope to see you around!

Thanks for your help... I had two lucid dreams last night but I couldn't take advantage of either one... I feel like I should say sorry to those who have been trying so hard to have a lucid dream...

Having the dream is only one part.

      Taking control is another ;P

      Control can be tricky.

I think it's good to get control of the dream scene before trying anything. When you realize you're dreaming, stop, experience the dream as best you can with all your senses so it becomes more vivid. Then go about experimenting.

You can control the clarity of your dream if you are lucid.

You mind is very good at improvising what things feel like.

Yes, you can get better at playing an instrument (the mental part)
